Boss Universal was born in the summer of 1999. This cd was the result of result of singer, Superdiva's attempt to keep her previous band together. Upon meeting drummer Swagger, Superdiva suggested the two play with guitar player Brett. Originally the band played punk songs. Over the course of the two plus years this group has been together, the sound has evolved into a formula of music that cannot be left unheard.Boss Universal takes on a style all their own, with Superdiva's wailing vocals to Brett's shredding guitar tone to Swagger pounding drum beats. This band will smack you on the A** and you'll turn around and thank them. Music Connection magazine says " the songs were interesting and often funny" YOU MUST BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!Based out of Los Angeles, California, this group expresses best the anger and frustration of city life, youth, talent. This album truly must be heard and played.Boss Universal stands alone with a style they have created, you owe it to yourself to listen to this band for the message behind the music.

Rush is no stranger to best-of compilation albums, they've released a slew of them. They are also no stranger to DVDs. To mark their 35th anniversary, they've released Working Men, which is both; it marks their first best-of live compilation exclusively from the DVD sets Rush in Rio (2003), R30 (2005), and Snakes & Arrows Live (2008). There is also an unreleased cut from R30 -- a killer version of One Little Victory. While fans may simply regard this as a record company cash grab, hardcore fans know how closely Rush monitors each release and controls all aspects of their career. On hearing these tracks without benefit of the visuals, it becomes lucidly clear that in the 21st century, Rush plays more like a hungry act looking to prove themselves rather than as seasoned veterans jaded by the entire business. The instrumental interaction between Neal Peart, Alex Lifeson, and Geddy Lee is utterly uncanny, the anticipation and the willingness to add flourishes and to challenge one another in the ...

Pricipally recorded live at The Roxy, Hollywood, California from December 10-12, 1973; the Auditorium Theater, Chicago, Illinois in 1974; Edinboro State College, Edinboro, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1974. It's no secret that one of the most powerful weapons in Zappa's arsenal was his sense of humor, which was at its height in live performance. Consequently, there's no better way to get a feel for the full scope of Zappa's music than on the live ROXY & ELSEWHERE. ...

The release of 2009's ENDGAME brings with it a startling realization: if first-generation thrash metal fans had been polled about which of the genre's "Big Four" -- Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth -- would prove to be the most resilient and consistently prolific over the next quarter century, the only sure-fire consensus would probably have been "well, anyone but Megadeth!" And yet, 12 studio albums and 150-plus songs later -- more than any ...

Down In The Cellar
Flatfoot Down In The Cellar CD  (2003)

CD $16.45
Raw and rough-edged, mid-Michigan's Flatfoot demonstrates a back-to-basics approach to country-rock on their debut, Down in the Cellar. Brothers Aaron and Jason Bales sound for all the world like Richie Furay and Neil Young in the midst of Buffalo Springfield's most creative period, fully embracing the heartfelt country and fuzz-tinged rock that late-'60s California had in spades. Shades of Gram Parsons' International Submarine Band and the rough-hewn textures of the Band peek around the corners of these 13 straightforward roots rock numbers, making for an intimate and boozy living-room feel. Early stomps like "Bottle for the Baby" and the Buddy Holly-on-Haldol rave-up "Letter #6" offer good indicators of where the album will head, but the real gems arrive in the second half of the album. The riff-heavy "Sleep All Day" is an indie rock hayride and the barnburner "Grandaddy" sounds for all the world like a Willie Dixon cover through the eyes (and amplifiers) of Jack White (and that is certainly intended as a compliment). The only drawback to the album is that the seemingly live recording and reverbed-out sound get a little muddy, and although it adds to the raw, spontaneous sound, it buries the Bales brothers' songwriting under the haze of August crick water. Although hasty, the performances are earnest, the songcraft is honest, and ...
