What Is "DaySick"?DaySick is a "blue-collar", nose-to-the-grindstone rock the way it was meant to be played -- not some "bubblegum" corporate version of it. Listening to DaySick "live" is a virtual journey through the back alleys of life, and your senses are flooded with sweet memories and raw regrets -- the way life really is. The way you -- and we -- really are. No soda commercials, no choreography, no baby-faced marketing; just the hard jams we love.We are rock for people who THEMSELVES rock -- the hard-working "common" man and woman. We're not some "ear candy" for a Yuppie convention. (Mochacchino for us? Hell no.) Hearing us leaves a three-day aftertaste in your mouth that you STILL won't want to wash away. DaySick is the recollection of "that one great party", your first love/heartbreak, and that cranky old algebra teacher you can't forget, all rolled into one. It's "the morning after"; you'd rather stay home and hang out than go to work, school, appointments or virtually anything else. The Roots of Our RockDaySick began in Rogers, Arkansas in 1999 as Stronghold, a studio band put together to showcase the songwriting talents of musician Doug Corbino. The current members of DaySick in this inaugural effort included lead singer Jon Easterling, a longtime songwriting partner and close friend Doug Corbino had worked with in the 80's band "Silent Rage"; and Doug Doyle, a local drummer who had returned to the area after playing the Southern California music scene. Over the next two years, Stronghold eventually changed its name to DaySick, the title of a song on Doug Corbino's solo CD "Life's Colors." The development of DaySick as a local rock influence was a result of two very distinct personnel changes, including the addition of seasoned bassist Vince Corbino, Doug's nephew -- fresh out of the US Army in the summer of 2001, and performance-tested both in American and foreign club gigs. Ironically, Doug Corbino was to leave the band shortly thereafter due to other personal commitments, and was subsequently replaced by master guitarist J. R. Clark.J.R. is now the back bone to the new DaySick giving the band a much harder edge.DaySick began to quickly cultivate and enjoy its loyal and feverish support in Northwest Arkansas, including performances and promotions involving local charity organizations as well as being a "regular act" on the regional music scene. The band was nonetheless dealt a sudden twist of tragic fate in May 2002, when bassplayer Vince Corbino suffered serious (although fortunately non-fatal) injuries from a motorcycle accident. Vince is currently rehabilitating from this incident, with best hopes and wishes of his bandmates and supporters. In the interim, DaySick was fortunate to land the services of master bass player Jason Downing to continue playing out the band's local club date commitments and bookings.A Work in ProgressThe current (and new) DaySick, while having a harder edge to their music, still retain the same blues-based, beat-driven and melody-oriented modern rock of the original band. Lead singer/songwriter Jon Easterling injects a powerful melodic texture into the music with hints of spiritual life thinking lyrics and catchy rhythmic phrases. The thick powerful chords of guitarist J.R. Clark combined with the tight driving rhythms of bassists Jason Downing and drummer Doug Doyle mate perfectly to create a sound that's modern, yet still pays tribute to hard rock groups of the past like Queensryche, Black Sabbath, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin."The Morning After" is the second CD release for DaySick, following up on their locally-acclaimed self-titled CD ("DaySick", 2001) which currently receives airplay on Fayetteville, AR-based KXNA's indie feature "The Local X". $12.69 Bio-A life-long passion for music has culminated into a tightly woven, professionally produced show by VIRGIL CAIN. A multi-talented musician, Virgil has drawn on over a decade of recording sessions and live performances to meticulously build a multi-layered show that appeals to most any audience. It all started at the age of 5 with violin lessons in kindergarten. Age 13 came around and he discovered the electric guitar. Listening to guitarists such as Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Jimmy Page, Virgil found his way to playing guitar in original/cover bands in the 90's. He began playing piano and keyboard parts on recorded songs too. After one of the bands "disbanded", Virgil played piano and acoustic guitar in local coffeehouses, singing stripped down versions of originals and original renditions of many songs. The solo show developed with influences from Billy Joel/Elton John/Coldplay on piano to Paul Simon/Dave Matthews/John Mayer on guitar. With a passion for evolving a show, he discovered new technologies. Digital looping and sequencing created a full band sound from one musician. Songs would be built up live with guitars, keyboards and electric violin parts built on top of each other. It's this "one man band" aspect of his performance that fascinates audiences whenever he plays and accounts for a good portion of what makes his show worth seeing. His stage presence, showmanship, appearance, and an easy ability to connect with an audience makes up another portion. ...
