Just when you think there's nothing new and exciting in the way of contemporary music, along comes Jase with his excellent 4 song EP titled "The Wings of the Phantom", released in 2003. From Baltimore by way of South Florida, Jase blends soulfully crafted lyrics with an edgy sweet sound, combining Rock, Pop, and Folk into an original sound. His vocal power, honesty, and emotion are regularly compared to the likes of Elton John, Rob Thomas, John Fogerty, and Harry Chapin. In the short time since he's released his EP, Jase has built an impressive list of credentials, including a #1 hit on the internet's third largest adult contemporary radio station, a #1 spot on the UK's Mp3Songs Top 100 Unsigned Artist Chart, Pop Top 10 on Garageband.com's A&R Site, Top 40 on MP3.com, as well as 3 Billboard Magazine Songwriting Awards. Whether as a solo act (acoustic guitar/vocals) or fronting his band of rockers, Jase delivers songs of sorrow and resilience in the artful style of a master storyteller. ROCK ON!""It's very unique and gets ya sucked in. I like those little pinch harmonics thrown in. This stuff is very Vai, Satch, Johnson like. The picking is very clean and solid. The backing guitars sound great with the lead too. "From Soundclick.com"It actually tears at your heart and works its way up and causes your entire body to tingle. I mean, this is just SO good that I am really at a loss for words...this track is pure audio instrumental orgasmic bliss "From Distant Words"...VERY reminiscent of a Dream Theater instrumental."From Mixposure.com"This is brilliantly played and the use of other guitar sounds makes it even better! Love it!!" "In the school of Satriani/Vai...this guy is amazing." BiographyA late starter in most people's eyes, Luke first picked up the guitar at the age of 17. However, he grew up in a house filled with music in every room, having a mother who was of child of the 60's and 'into' a massive range of sounds, from the rock of Hendrix, through the Rolling Stones, and out the other side to the Moody Blues, Donovan, The Incredible String Band. Having been thrilled by seeing a friend at school playing Mr Scary by George Lynch, Luke decided the guitar was the thing and dived headlong into a passionate affair with the instrument, and completely self-taught himself the dynamics of six-string playing. The following years were taken up with getting a degree at Oxford University, but guitar was also played pretty much solidly from then on. - this is a guitarist who plays as much with his brain as his heart. The melting pot of university was also the time to start live work, and with the development of the Internet, collaborative work with other individuals from the UK and beyond. This accelerated the learning process and ...
| | Sense Of Scenery Twentyfourseven/EP/Demo CD (2005)
Wings Of The Phantom CD music
$9.85 Should biographies be in the first, second or third person?I can't exactly pinpoint when SOS started? I suppose these things are debatable, but if you ask me, you could define it when I recorded something of substance, like with the release of 66 copies of 'Ill Fantasy'? Yeah, substance...yeah? It was more of a trial test though. If that's the case, the summer of 2003 would be a beginning of sorts. The idea of Sense of Scenery was much older, and like shitty homemade wine in my cellar, it was fermenting since 1999, though I can't put an absolute date on it. The concept was idiotically the result of a spaced out, narcotic-induced dream. As silly as it sounds, it's true. But I have no bias, and if you think that dreaming up ideas whilst stoned is silly, then the good Dr. Hunter Thompson didn't contribute anything of substance to the art world. But THAT in itself is silly, because if you said it to my face, I would hit you. I guess I do have bias? Hmm.Sense of Scenery has primarily been a one man band for many years, though the title of the project implies a character of a 'band', I hate most solo project names with the generic given name of the performer. This is not the case anymore, so no need to explain these semantics. Up until the summer of 2003, I had continuously written songs and nutured it as if it were some personal world that would kill me to publicize it...or so it would seem, upon retrospect. After many failed attempts to fuse the act into a live show with many classified ads around Vancouver, I asked my good friend, Jesse, a pianist, to join the band. I realized that if anything is going to be a reality concerning the project, it was going to be solely up to me to push it, rather than rely on strangers to walk into the situation and pick up my messy pieces. To quasi-hire people and convince them that this is worth doing and somehow convince them to have the same passion for it, is something that is few and far between in reality. When I was a teenager, I thought the latter would happen. It didn't. Hmm. To make a long story short, after the release of 'Ill Fantasy', (an acoustic demo album), I went right back in the studio to work on a fully electric EP, titled 'twentyfourseven'. It was released in December of 2005. After finding US distribution, and making little effort to support its local commercial success, I decided the sound created in SOS was lacking a definative structure. A structure from the base, as with more permenant bandmates. I had spent so much time with machinery as the 'band' that I forgot ...

Wings Of The Phantom songs
$18.25 The "STORY" behind the music of VIDA RICA...:The majority of Vida Rica hints strongly at the heritage of Enrique, which permeates his "voice", whether it be via the tuba, his scatting, or piano playing. The passionate, earthy and ethnic mixture of his own background sings strong (Argentina, Spain, Southern Russia, Mexico, Native American, and Israel). Joining him on this CD is the stellar talent of "Sly", whose abilities at the piano are intuitive, and full of risk, while his tuba playing ranges from be-bop to Funk bass lines. Yisrael Voraita is an ancient Chasidic melody played over a Latin Songo-like groove with numerous and seamless transitions in style, as you will also hear on other selections. Unique in this selection is Hank's multi-phonics which create a mysterious ambience. Quemado, a seductive Gypsy-like Tango, opens with the statement (sung in Spanish) "...the challenge of passionate love...is to understand your own soul." During this original song, there are three sung stanzas. The first describes Passionate Love as delicious and dangerous; the second one "Logical Love" is described as not very passionate, and states that an empassioned soul cannot live without trying to find true love. The third stanza states, "True Love... is like having the sun inside your mouth...it must be released and allowed to grow into a beautiful life. And when your life is full of this kind of love, this is what it sounds like" Each vocal stanza is then answered by an instrumental or vocal solo which transcends the poetry. Touch, an original R&B song, features Hank's sultry lyrics and the fat dark bass lines of Sly. Fe, another original song, was a five minute piece when Hank first performed it at the 1997 ITEC in Riva del Garda, Italy to the great joy of humanity consuming Pizza and Grapa in their Piazza! Today, Fe (Spanish for "Faith" in general) has become an epic journey ...
