| | J D & The Sons Of Rhythm Family Values CD J D & The Sons Of Rhythm Discography of CDs
J.D. and the Sons of Rhythm began as a studio recording project. FAMILY VALUES predates PRIMATE GESTURES and MUSIC FROM ANOTHER PLANET (Also available on cdbaby.com), and brings some of the current players on board for the first time.Beginning with Jammin' at Midtown, spontaneous music was the objective. To achieve this, experienced players were put on unfamiliar ground. They met new players, with hard-drive spinning and no charts to follow.Chops were flexed.Musical discussions in notes took place. The objective was achieved in FAMILY VALUES, 15 tracks of music on 2 discs.******disk 1Did you Record That?Michael's AngelsPeach Jam Frank EntersJulioJD's RagaRick's Ragdisk 2Tammy's SongOzone CarlosSunset on the BayMidtown NightsSkabone Tim's DoodleGoodnight***** the playersJ.D. Those sessions were released on the 'Jammin at Midtown' CD. Later we decided to do it again with various musicians. In every session most of the musicians never met let alone played together. There were no rehearsals, second takes or knowledge of any song structure other than the two songs with Julio. These sessions were products of improvisation, a high degree of creativity and technical expertise stirred by a huge degree of listening capacity and respect of each other. On a couple of songs you can hear someone yelling out a chord change, that's how immdeiate those sessions were. It was an honor and a pleasure for my family and I to work with such a great group of people coupled with great creative talents."********JD AND THE SONS OF RHYTHM:cdbaby.com/jdsons - QUANTUM EVENTScdbaby.com/jatsor - MUSIC FROM ANOTHER PLANETcdbaby.com/jatsor2 - PRIMATE GESTUREScdbaby.com/jatsor3 - FAMILY VALUESTHAT DOG IN EGYPT (J.D., Jayson, Rickie)cdbaby.com/doge99 - THAT DOG IN EGYPT '99cdbaby.com/doge97 - THAT DOG IN EGYPT '97MAMBO (Rickie, Joel, Ralph)cdbaby.com/mamboband - MAMBOSKUDD (Jayson)cdbaby.com/skudd - SKUDDCAT'S A BEAR: (Frank, Tony)cdbaby.com/catsabear - TITO IN WONDERLANDcdbaby.com/catsabear2 - TITO: IN SEARCH OF A REVOLUTIONcdbaby.com/catsabear3 - EYE OF THE PYRAMIDONE WORLD TRIBE: (Frank, Mike Chin)cdbaby.com/oneworldtribePOTATO BATTERY: (Mike Ohm, Sheldon Peterson, David Blaetz)cdbaby.com/potatobatteryFRANK SINGERcdbaby.com/franksinger - OFF THE TOP: STANDARDS 1cdbaby.com/franksinger2 - GENERATIONS STRING QUARTETMIKE OHMcdbaby.com/mikeohm1 - THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEMcdbaby.com/mikeohm2 - ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER******www.jdhopkins.comwww.catsabear.comwww.franksinger.comwww.standards-1.comwww.oneworldtribe.comwww.firstartrecords.comwww.midtownrecording.com Family Values Music | Category | Jazz Albums, International CDs, World | | Label | Jd | | Orig Year | 2002 | | CD Universe Part number | 7182469 | | Catalog number | 20618 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Oct 21, 2003 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 148 minutes |

| | Gerald Wilson Detroit CD (2009)
Family Values CD music
$14.29 Detroit comprises a six-composition suite commissioned for the 2009 thirtieth anniversary Detroit International Jazz Festival, played in the studio with musicians from composer/arranger Gerald Wilson's Los Angeles home or New York City area. Curiously, there are no Motor City-based players on the disc, but the themes are based in certain locales from the industrial Midwestern City that has fallen on hard economic times but played a pivotal role in the development of Wilson's highly developed skills as a composer, arranger, and bandleader. A quite spirited and energetic music is heard here from the 90-year-old ...

| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Family Values songs
$10.05 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, ...

Family Values songs
$17.09 What they're saying about Julie V:Rick O'Dell, host, WNUA 95.5 FM, Chicago: "...a delicious recording...the arrangements are absolutely first-class and (Julie's) style warm and inviting."Tom Lounges, The Times: "Like Volkmann, the music on "Something New," is mature, seasoned and vibrantly colored." Ben Likens, The Midwest Beat: "a jazz vocalist of incredible talen. Julie's voice is her instrument, and she has learned to use it so effectively that at her performances, her audiences are literally pulled from their seats and into the song... Her band is in top form on every track. From beginning to end, "Something New" is an enjoyable experience." ABOUT JULIE V After a significant career in dramatic and musical theatre Julie V now concentrates her considerable creative energies on being a jazz vocalist. This artist is an amalgam of her work in many art forms. The ways that Julie embodies these creative expressions allow us to understand the depth and the breadth of her musical performance. A former art major, she has married her training in bel canto techniques to her understanding of composition, color, texture and form in her performance, painting tonal and rhythmical pictures that support the emotionality of each story. Her liturgical work as cantor and psalmist combined with her theatrical roots informs her deep understanding of the humanity and spirituality of each song, exploring the sacred mysteries of our existence, and conveying that knowledge directly to the listener's soul. Julie V credits her work in improvisational theatre methods for giving her the freedom to be fully spontaneous and able to tap into her considerable emotional range. All of which is possible only because she understands and lives the human story within ...
