Make Way album
$11.05 Additional personnel includes: Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths (background vocals).
Nobody who likes music could fail to be emotionally moved by this album, and not just because Marley is no longer with us. It was a special live treat before he died. The great thing about this record is the feeling that this is what it was like every night, unlike other live recordings which capture one or two gigs of a tour. Marley was extra special and a giant of popular music. Wallow in this vital record and listen to a man who had something to say and yet had fun while he said it. Most of the tracks you would ...

Make Way album
$42.05 JT the Bigga Figga's discoveries and former associates have earned major labels plenty of dead presidents, so a compilation that gives the man a slice of the pie is well deserved. Unfortunately, Neighborhood Superstarz smells of cash-in and not respect. Bad packaging and precious few liner notes undermine the high-quality music here, most of which, if not all, has show up on mixtapes and official releases. Superstars the Game, Juvenile, and Young Buck are featured alongside fan favorites E-40 and Daz Dillinger, plus the underappreciated Gamblaz. Despite the jumble of names, the album hangs together since most of the tracks here are unambitious club tracks, all anchored by JT's solid, West Coast style of beat building. The music's exciting enough to warrant further investigation, but the liner notes will lead you nowhere. Bay Area fanatics get a nice portable collection ...

| | Laurell Hubick Fool In Me CD (2004)
Make Way music CDs
$13.15 NEW BIOThey say that success happens when preparation meets opportunity: Laurell, please say hello to the world. The rain was coming down on a sparkling Vancouver night just like it always did, but this time there was something different in that tiny little cafe with that tiny little stage up in the ceiling. On it sat a girl with something rare, something that makes us say "I was there when...â Armed with just her guitar, she had the room rapt, everyone taken away by that beautiful, fragile voice. Now, with three albums to boast, hundreds of U.S. and Canadian dates under her belt, a cluttered shelf of accolades, and a growing grassroots following, singer/songwriter Laurell is finding herself on new ground and jumping in with both feet. After being named the "Vancouver Idol" in 2001 on T.V's popular reality show, Canadian Idol, Laurell took fate into her own hands and independently released her first full-length album, Into Your Love. The spiritually reflective recording had 500 CD's snatched up the day it dropped, and with band-in-tow, Laurell crossed the country to hugely warm reception and further CD selling success. That year, the album's single, "Great 'I AM'" won Song of the Year at the Canadian People's Choice Gospel Music Awards (Shai). Eleven months later Laurell released The Fool In Me, and a playful experimentation of instruments, grooves, and subjects emerged. Again, the same CD-selling success exploded at her release, and Laurell went on to tour the west coast of Canada and the U.S. multiple times, sharing bills with numerous bands and songwriters. In November 2007, Laurell dropped Fears Aside - a beautiful collection of 5 more self-penned songs - into the hands of her waiting fans. The album immediately gained her international recognition, winning the We Are Listening songwriting competition for her title track, landing her the $10,000 grand prize in Bell Mobilityâs indie artist search, and earning her a Western Canadian Music Awards nomination for Outstand Pop Album. Post-release, Laurell was invited to Toronto and LA to write with numerous established songwriters in the industry ...

$15.89 A forceful and charismatic performer, singer/songwriter, musician Causion is charged with intense emotions. His deep social and conscious lyrics are filled with appealing messages that blend Reggae, soul and pop music. Born Gregory Colin Bailey in the beautiful twin-island nation of Antigua & Barbuda, Causion recalls âI knew from an early age that I wanted to be a professional artist. I grew up in a family of established musicians and I did not have to reach far for either support or inspiration.âCausionâs new album âOne Life To Liveâ, is definitely his best effort to date. It was self-produced with longtime collaborators Hopeton Lindo & Syl Gordon of 321 Strong Records and with the support of well known engineer Jason Sterling from JasFar Records. The final production is impeccable. Fully equipped with the reality lyrics that make him a true contender for the title of conscious artist, Causion enlightens the masses on tracks like âGang Warâ and âSlave Addictionâ. He shows us how to live a better life with âGive Jah The Powerâ. The album also includes the ballad-style âKeep Moving Onâ and Pop sounding tunes âFeel The Vibesâ and âHold On.â There are several combination cuts with the likes of Hopeton Lindo and Gentleman. This collection will certainly keep hope alive.Recently Causion delivered an awesome performance of the above songs at his album launch party at the Seminole Paradise Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood Florida. He went on to give repeat performances at Reggae Carifest, Randall's Island Park -New York, the Miami Reggae Festival ...
