| | Oliver Thompson CD Oliver Thompson Discography of CDs
Although Oliver Thompson's 2004 debut album seems a short seven tracks, don't let the length fool you. Still coming in at over 40 minutes, from start to finish this self titled record is overflowing with an awesome mix of sounds, moods, and genres ranging from rock to funk to soul to bluegrass to jazz. Refreshing yet comfortably familiar!!In the winter of 2002, Oliver Thompson met Sean Vinci. Discovering that Sean had aspirations of building a home studio and that Oliver needed a studio to record in, created what would become a perfect match. Finally after almost two years of work, they had an album. A band was needed. It was clear that Sean would be the drummer, and Oliver the guitarist. But who would fill in the cracks? First Oliver enlisted the backbone of his first band, Mr. Benjamin Buller to play the bass. While in search of a keyboardist Oliver received a voicemail that would make history. It was from Russell Gillespie, and it was simple: “I’ve listened to your CD four times, when are we gonna start a rock band?” In a Rock and Roll setting Russ considered himself primarily a guitar player, but through the doors of Oakland University’s practice rooms Oliver had heard Russ wail on the piano. They talked, they agreed. Half keyboard, half guitar, primary vocalist. Easy. Moving on… Rehearsals began and three shows were played before Ben had to leave his duties as bass player to pursue a career in mud wrestling. Their was only one likely replacement... Joseph Augugliaro. With Joe at the core, The People were complete. Four determined, hard-working, focused, and altogether wholesome individuals aspiring to make great music. They compose, they improvise, but most importantly they play music… in jeans! Oliver Thompson Songs | 1. | On Your Side |

| | Shakira She Wolf CD (2009)
Oliver Thompson songs
$11.18 Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired nuttiness, how she laments that Matt Damon's not meant for her, and wishes her ex-lover and his new girl a horrible vacation where the room smells and the toilet doesn't ...

| | Zubot & Dawson Strang CD (2006)
Oliver Thompson music CDs
$12.39 In an industry where the most-often asked musical question is "what kind of music do you play?" it's perhaps not surprising that it would be a couple of guys from the west coast of Canada who would smile and answer "Strang". What the hell, you may well ask, is Strang? Well, it's a whole lot easier to listen to than it is to describe. The musical influences and evocations in Strang could fill a record catalogue, but the short answer would be "acoustic music that kicks ass". It's folk music for people who don't like folk music- and for people who love it dearly. Those that have been listening to roots music over the last 25 years or so might find some musical sign posts pointing towards the work of Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, Ry Cooder, Darol Anger and David "Dawg" Grisman. However, you would also have to remember that these are the musical milestones of a previous generation. For Steve Dawson and Jesse Zubot, this is just the starting point for the amazing musical journey that is Strang. While they were listening to all of the above, they were also listening to classical, country, folk, funk, rock, Hawaiian and bluegrass - all of which are now part of their musical DNA. You also have to add in 2 or 3 kinds of jazz, blues and electronica, all brought to you by 2 seriously accomplished musicians - Jesse on violin and mandolin and Steve on acoustic, National steel-bodied and Weissenborn Hawaiian guitars (a hollow-necked lap steel instrument). It's been a few years since they left the Spirit Merchants and pop music's yellow brick road to take a musical path a little less traveled, and a little quieter. Tired of the volume levels and a growing sense that nobody could hear what they were playing anymore, they stepped out into a new musical space, which they call Strang. There's a danger ...

Oliver Thompson album
$17.09 InsideOut is running at the front of a modern trend in music – contemporary a cappella. With its roots in the early monophonic sacred music ‘at the chapel,’ a cappella has come the distance and has kept a good following along the way. There’s something inherently fascinating about a group of people, putting themselves ...
