You're Gonna Need A Backup CD music
$11.18 After his aborted, internet-leaked 2008 album, 12 PLAY: 4TH QUARTER, R. Kelly busied himself with guest spots for Beyonce, T-Pain, and Kanye West, even offering a free download on iTunes, "I Believe," inspired by the election of president Barack Obama. While such moves insured that Kelly would never stray far from the R&B throne he's occupied for more than a decade, his 2009 reboot of 12 PLAY, UNTITLED, should provide more than ...

You're Gonna Need A Backup CD music
$15.19 Contains the song: PALOMA URBANA. In this 3rd release, spanish guitar, piano, cello, violin and accordion accompany the lush, contralto voice of Puerto Rican vocalist/composer, Lourdes Perez.REVIEWS:"Known for her spine-rattling contralto and politically conscious lyrics, Lourdes Pérez's newest CD, Selections From Tres Oraciones -- her first album since 1997's Vestigios -- has a decidedly dramatic flair, perhaps because many of the songs were created for theatre and dance performances over a four-year period. Pérez beckons the listener with the a cappella prayer "Santa Maria Madre," moving on to lyrically impressionistic songs like "Paloma Urbana" (Urban Dove), "Aguas Benditas" (Blessed Waters), and "Monarca" (Monarch). Her hearty voice captivates, but the addition of piano (Kay Sparks), cello (Margaret Coltman-Smith), violin (Javier Chaparro), and accordion (Eva Ybarra) complement Pérez's gut-wrenching delivery. "Nómbrame" (Name Me), an homage to massacred Guatemalan villagers, is nuanced with a mournful cello that later burns with urgency, and ends in a mesmerizing whisper. Piano brightens the sassy tango "La Nana de José" (José's Nanny), while the instrumental ...

You're Gonna Need A Backup album
$12.69 I don't know exactly when it started, but ever since I can remember I was writing lyrics and melodies. My parents put me in organ lessons as a child and when high school started I decided the organ was "uncool" and took my father's advice to play the guitar.I pretended to read the music for my teachers but I only played by ear- it seemed like a lot less effort at the time. I only wish I could read music now!!It wasn't until I was 17 and won a contest to sing to a sold-out stadium on Shania Twain's stage that I knew what I was meant to do was sing, entertain and follow my dreams as a musician.People always ask who my influences are, and I'd have to say Sheryl Crow, Holly McNarland, Alanis Morrisette, Emm Gryner, Tegan And Sara, Sara Harmer and The Stars. I still have a hard time with describing the "genre" of my music. What is a "genre" anyways these days? How can Eminem, Britney Spears and Sheryl Crow all be classified as pop? I hate the word "genre" or "type". I would like people just to listen to the music and formulate their own opinions before stereotyping a "genre" that you happen to be classified in!!!Anyways, back to the bio. After spending a lot of time and money on studio work, I started to realize my music was sounding like every other song on the radio -over-produced. This is why 'Livin' Here' was recorded at home. Kris Ruston and I recorded the entire album on a Roland VS880 and it sounds amazing. Kris is a musical genius, and can probably play any instrument handed to him in reverse. There is definitely an organic and natural sound on the album, something we don't hear that often anymore. The artwork and design was created by "Eye Teasers" in Vancouver. Eye Teasers also work names such as Bif Naked.Livin' Here is my favorite recording project I've done thus far. In 1999, I recorded a three-song EP with Terra Grimard, a very talented jazz musician who now plays the jazz scene in Vancouver. Then in 2001 there was a four-song EP recorded at Small World Studio's in Kamloops. It wasn't until the summer of 2004 that I released my first album 'Livin' Here'. It's an album about change in environment, influences and growing up. It was about the growth in myself and the changes I went through when I left my hometown to work in Vancouver. The years 2004 and 2005 ...
