| | Roy G Biv Perspectives In Perspective CD Roy G Biv Discography of CDs
The band's beginnings were of feedback experiments and lo-fi renditions of Nirvana songs. As '97 approached, Theodore William and Brian Zieske began writing songs, acquiring drummer Lee Fritz, and began playing at local "hang-out" venues. "The Photo Album" was recorded and released in early 1998. The album showcased the first songs written by the band, and staked a claim for Roy G. Biv as one of the popular bands of the area. The next year followed with the release of "Sad Things About Happiness." The album showed a darker Roy G. Biv, as everyone in the band was going through trying times. The album showed heavier and softer sounds than "The Photo Album." It also showed the band experimenting with different recording techniques. Their 2001 release "The Radio Sing-a-long EP" showed 5 focused songs that only hinted at the direction the band was going. The band spent the next year writing and recording new material, while still attending college and working part time. The album "Perspectives in Perspective" was finished in July of 2002, and showed the band with focused songs, and a consistent sound. With the completion of the album guitarist John Erler joined the group, and has become a part of every aspect of the bands music. Go to www.roygbivrock.com for more information. Perspectives In Perspective album
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed a Dream could very well have been released all those years ago, as it mixes up the show tunes, gospel, and Christmas carols with covers of Skeeter Davis' "The End of the ...
| | Jimmy Buffett Buffet Hotel CD (2009)
Perspectives In Perspective CD music
$9.74 Since Jimmy Buffett never leaves his comfort zone, it's hard to call 2009's Buffet Hotel a return to roots but, in a way, it is. Discounting the mock rap on "Turn Up the Heat and Chill the Rosé," this album doesn't even have the lingering country and reggae flavors that seasoned 2006's Take the Weather with You, with all of the songs riding a cool, mellow country-rock wave, the kind that has been his stock-in-trade since the `70s. There's a difference between being part of a tradition and being stuck in the past and Buffett is surely in the former, not shying away from the new millennial mess, admitting that we all have "A Lot to Drink ...
| | Mark Knopfler Get Lucky CD (2009)
Perspectives In Perspective music CDs
$15.65 With the release of GET LUCKY, Mark Knopfler has made as many solo studio albums as he made group studio albums with Dire Straits, which itself may be a signal that it's time to stop comparing his two careers and simply accept them as separate entities. Of course, since Knopfler was the lead singer, chief instrumentalist, and songwriter for Dire Straits, there are obvious similarities, even if he has taken a deliberately different path as a solo ...
| | Lady Gaga Fame Monster CD (2009)
Perspectives In Perspective songs
$8.79 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus it helps emphasize the new material, which does act as a bridge from the debut to a forthcoming full-length. Everything on The Fame Monster bears a galvanized Eurotrash finish, as evident on the heavy steel synths of "Bad Romance" and the updated ABBA revision "Alejandro," as it is on the rock & roll ballad "Speechless" -- its big guitars lifted from Noel Gallagher -- and the wonderful, perverse march "Teeth." Even the stuttering splices on "Telephone," a duet with Beyoncé, leans to the ...

| | Bon Jovi Circle CD (2009)
Perspectives In Perspective CD music
$11.17 Bon Jovi's 2007 effort, LOST HIGHWAY, found New Jersey's finest brandishing a Nashville-tinged, commercial rock/country crossover sound that wasn't too far a stretch from their usual arena rocking anthems for the Everyman. And where that album sometimes tried too hard to fit into the conventions of trad country, sacrificing some of the fist-pumping potency of their best `90s-era efforts in the process, THE CIRCLE, the band's fifth studio effort of the ...

$16.85 It is never an easy task to compose a biography without adding superficial elements to it or without forgetting important ones. Therefore, I have decided to write it chronologically this time. March 16, 1978 : I was born in Switzerland in the canton of Vaud. I spent my childhood and went to school in Orbe. Then, i went to high school in Yverdon where I obtained a diploma in General Studies. I was getting ready to become a teacher at first and then to work as a stewardess, but both enterprises proved unsuccessful. After doing practical training in commerce, I received my CFC (Federal Certificate of Capacity as an employee in commerce) with honors.1995 : Sheryl Crow lands on radio waves with her hit single acclaimed worldwide, “All I Wanna Doâ€. She immediately makes me want to play music.1997 : I travel to Germany where I meet to rock bands that convince me to play music. As soon as I get back from Switzerland, I buy a guitar and start self-teaching myself by practicing and playing “Talking ‘bout a Revolution†by Tracy Chapman.1998 : I write my first song, “Homeâ€, and I decide to start my first band.2000 : The band breaks up but I instantly start looking for new musicians. I create a new ...
