Haunt Me Lord music CDs
$14.29 The latest album from Swedish doom rockers Katatonia, their first studio effort since 2006, is as moody and beautiful as their other latter-day work. The group's career can be marked in two stages based on the condition of singer Jonas Renske's vocal cords -- basically, after the band's first two albums, he developed health problems that prevented him from performing harsh death growls, and ever since ...

With Queen officially enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of GREATEST HITS I, II & III. While Volumes I and II are full of Queen classics you already know by heart, the third cobbles together odds and sods from the far corners of Queen's canon along with solo cuts from Freddie Mercury and Brian May.
Opening with the operatic rock classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's easy to hear not only how this British quartet achieved the kind of ...

| | Dave Holland Rarum X: Selected Recordings CD (2004) Remastered; Digipak
Haunt Me Lord music CDs
$33.75 The halfway point in ECM's excellent 20-volume Rarum series is by one of its signature talents: bassist, composer, and bandleader Dave Holland. These documents are, essentially, career retrospectives wherein the artist chooses from his performances on the label, either as a leader, soloist, or sideman. Holland offers a fantastic cross section from his own catalog, with one exception. That selection is the album's opener, "How's Never" from Homecoming, the second album by Gateway, a trio Holland was involved in with guitarist John Abercrombie and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Most of the rest come from his celebrated 1980s and 1990s recordings with then-young luminaries such as Steve Coleman, Chris Potter, Smitty Smith, Kevin and Robin Eubanks, and ECM veterans such as Kenny Wheeler, Julian Priester, and Steve Wilson. There are a couple of exceptions, such as "Inception," from a solo cello album that is one of Holland's crowning achievements, and the closing cut, the signature tune from 1972's Conference of the Birds, featuring Holland alongside vanguard legends Anthony Braxton, Sam Rivers, and pianist Barry Altschul. While one might have wished for more representation from the 1970s material, the selections here are all top-notch. This is a great introduction to one of jazz's most enigmatic and consistent virtuosos. ~ Thom Jurek
Stuart Nicholson wrote in the BBC Music magazine of the "Rarum" series: "... selected by the artists themselves, ...

Haunt Me Lord music CDs
$16.45 Based out of the bureaucratic capital of Canada, four Aboriginal musicians toil to subvert the machinery from within. Yes, weaselhead has been known to be abrupt, understated, and sometimes downright belligerent, but deep at the heart of it all lays the angst that each member feels in knowing what the bureaucracy holds in store for you. First impressions of each song leaves a sense of familiarity, however, dig deeper and you will find the doublespeak of the lyrics tell a different story. This is real-life in the sleepy, 9 to 5 reality that is the nation’s capital. Behind the 30 second political press video clips of faithless, impassioned politicians, watermarked inside the published rhetoric of any national representative organization, you will find the real ‘content’ of the human condition set forth to make sense of the world. Split a block of wood, and it is there. Turn over any stone, and it is there. The common, everyday ...
