D-Style CD music
$8.89 "Lifetime" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Rebounding from the slight sophomore lag generated by 1998's EMBRYA, Maxwell's follow-up NOW abandons the neo-soul man's usual M.O. of using a conceptual arc of songs, and instead focuses on individual cuts. Romance remains the main ingredient found in this Brooklyn native's banquet of song, and although he stands firmly in the neo-soul camp of D'Angelo and Erykah, ...
| | Elvis Presley Elvis' Gold Records, Vol. 4 CD (1968)
D-Style music CDs
$12.79 "Ain't That Loving You Baby" was recorded in 1958. The remainder of the singles compiles on ELVIS' GOLD RECORDS VOL 4 were recorded between 1960 and 1967.
Periodically throughout Presley's lifetime, RCA Records would compile Elvis' most recent best-selling records and release them on a GOLDEN RECORDS greatest hits package. VOLUME 4 is the fourth of five such records, covering Elvis' career between 1962 and 1966. Although many rock fans disparage Presley's work during these years--primarily because this era is identified with the King's many sub-par movie soundtrack albums--the recordings on VOLUME 4 stand alongside the best of Presley's work.
High points include a cover of Ray Charles' "What'd I Say," the impassioned R&B ballad "It Hurts Me," and the top five hit "You're the Devil in Disguise." The twelve-track CD version of GOLDEN RECORDS VOLUME 4 is a digitally remastered edition of the 1968 album. It was released in 1990 and is still in print; however, this title was also reissued in 1997 at a higher list price with improved liner notes, another round of digital remastering, and--most importantly--six additional tracks, all of which were big hits (among them "Return to Sender" and "Viva Las Vegas").
The fourth volume of Elvis' Gold Records was the first of his hits compilations to be issued at a point when Elvis Presley wasn't considered a very important rock & roll star anymore (a few months later, ...

D-Style music CDs
$16.45 Kate Higgins grew up in Auburn, AL and got her first gig at age fifteen playing piano and singing in her mother’s restaurant. With a mother who in earlier years had been a singer and actress in New York, Kate grew up familiar with the great American songbook and started playing piano at six years old. She never had to be told to practice on the family’s turquoise piano (decorated with bright red and yellow flowers), and when she got on stage to sing of a ‘man in France who lost his pants’ while visiting the Sears Tower in Chicago, her mother decided to keep encouraging her daughter’s musical interests. By the time Kate was in high school, the colorful but jangly upright had been replaced by a grand piano. She went on from there to major in jazz theory performance and composition at Auburn University, and thanks to a helpful teacher and mentor in the jazz department, she was encouraged to take music beyond the Alabama state line. Soonafter she graduated, Kate moved to Los Angeles, a move which proved to be harder than she realized: “I pounded the pavement trying to get going in the music industry. I got into a cycle of doing music for the wrong reasons and I was feeling the pressure from back home with people telling me I could be a star. The more pressure I put on myself, the less I enjoyed it, and the less creative I was.” She continued to write songs and perform at clubs, but something was missing.Kate found solace in playing hymns. Sitting down at the piano to sing and arrange gospel songs brought some of the love and purity back into music, and it gave her a place of refuge. ‘I thought to myself, maybe if I’m experiencing some peace from this, then perhaps others will, too.’ She recorded these hymns and gave copies to a ...
