Although born and raised in Philadelphia, Mutlu possesses strong Turkish roots, as he is the first member of his family born in the United States. Growing up in Center City, Mutlu submersed himself in the music scene at an early age, exposing himself to some of The City's best jazz, funk and hip-hop. These influences are clearly evident in his music, which is an eclectic blend of the city's sounds, interwoven with elements of Turkish and world music, creating a vibe that is truly unique on today's music scene. Mutlu is never afraid to serve up a lyrical dish such as "Break it Down", followed by a cover of a Turkish pop song by Tarkan.
