Subtle Creeps Sip On Fire CD

By combining a sincere approach to songwriting, an intense stage presence, and an ever-changing setlist, the Subtle Creeps are a captivating live act. Their music blends such influences as Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, and Jimi Hendrix into a style all its own. With a newly released album to promote, entitled Sip on Fire, the Subtle Creeps are ready to bring their own brand of hard groove rock to Texas. The seed for the Subtle Creeps was planted back in 1996 when guitarists Cody Martin and Joshua McCready met in high school in the small town of DeQuincy, near Lake Charles, Louisiana. After realizing they shared a mutual love for music, they immediately began writing songs together. For the next few years they honed their sound and songwriting skills playing shows in the Lake Charles area under various names with a rotating rhythm section. Finally, in 1999, Cody and Joshua, armed with seven original tunes, began recording an EP. For the album, the guys acquired the help of Ryan Westbrook of the Thinking Plyers to play drums and bass virtuoso, Trip Wamsley, to handle the bass and engineering duties. After recording the EP at the Downtown underground Studio in Lake Charles, Cody and Joshua realized that they wanted to record a full album instead. In late 2000, they went back in the studio and recorded what would become the rest of Sip on Fire. Around the end of the recording process Cody's lifelong friend, Chase Piedfort, moved to Louisiana and became the permanent bassist for the band. The group decided on the name The Subtle Creeps and played a handful of shows still with a constantly changing drummer.The band, however, were not content with their surroundings. The crowds wanted pop cover bands, not original music. So the Subtle Creeps decided to move. In early 2003, the three friends moved to San Marcos, Texas. Within a month they found someone to fill the vacant drummer position, Ryan Crumpton of Livingston, Texas. His style fit perfectly with the rest of the Subtle Creeps. The band was complete. With a full band that is tighter than ever and an album, which was finally released in July, the Subtle Creeps are prepared to begin building their fanbase the old-fashioned way, by playing great live shows.
