$11.39 You have to love a big guy who sings about his love for big girls. You have to love a guy who opens up his first major release with a song that idolizes a computer geek because he's "the best programmer in the entire f***ing world." Yes, you have to love Dan Bryk.
The big man from Toronto offers up a disc full of snotty, nose-thumbing pop that's capable of being snide, catchy and heartbreaking at the same time. Equal parts early Jonathan Richman and Burt Bacharach, Bryk counts among his fans Ron Sexsmith, Ben Folds, and the Eels. It's easy to see why. While he's bound to make you smile and sing along, you'd better watch your back for those tear jerking ballads like "Forgiven" and "Memo to Myself." And don't forget to ...

Shabbat Favorites album
$12.65 Wayne was born in Kingston, Jamaica and migrated to the country to live with his father in Trelawny where he attended William Knibb Memorial High School. Upon completion of high school in 1990 he returned to Kingston to complete college at Excelsior College. The Gospel Artist lived in the deep inner-city community of Eastern Kingston (Mountain View) and existed amidst the harsh culture of the Kingston ghetto. Stoddart was able to sustain his identity as a Son of the Most High God. The experiences of his environment has lead to lyrics of comfort, encouragement and solution for an exit from the hands of the enemy of humanity - the devil - for the oppressed and depressed seeking a way out or rather up. The title track COMMITTED on Stoddart’s second album is a prime example of the root of Wayne Stoddart's message. Wayne grew up in the church and growing up in the country (Kinloss, Trelawny) there wasn't that much activity and entertainment besides what was found at the church. His interest in music, grew from the fact that his father had a wide collection of music from Gospel to R&B and Reggae; also there was always music in the church. The first public recognition Stoddart received was at a concert at Clarks Town Primary School. "I was in grade 4 at the time and I just started singing a pop song and doing all the dance moves. The class went wild." As a result of that primary school experience, Wayne and his brother Steve started singing together as the Stoddart Brothers. Everywhere Wayne went music followed and 'vice versa'. Wayne was a local High School singing star at William Knibb High School and when he ...

Shabbat Favorites CD music
$25.69 Jazz guitarist Kunle Ayo's virtuosity with the strings has earned him several musical accolades and even comparisons with giants of the contemporary school like George Benson, Earl Klugh and locally-based Jimmy Dludlu. His guitar work pulls at the heart-strings - soulful as it is cheerful, funky as it is jazzy. A dazzling live performer, Kunle was part of the 2006 Joy of Jazz Guitar Summit which included guitar masters Jimmy Dludlu, Alvin Dyers and Louis Mhlanga. Since his trek to the south in 2002, Kunle has performed and recorded with some of the country's best artists - notably Marcus Wyatt (trumpet), Buddy Wells (saxophone), Moses Khumalo, Musa Manzini, Nombulelo Maqetuka, Judith Sephuma and Bayete front man Jabu Khanyile. Internationally, Kunle has also shared the stage with Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum, Al Jarreau and Jonathan Butler. In 2004 Kunle joined internationally respected trombonist Jonas Gwangwa, pianist Don Laka, gospel's First Lady Rebecca Malope and People's Poet Mzwakhe Mbuli into the stellar stable of T-Musicman, the country's leading promotions and event Management Company. He runs his own company, K Cool Productions, and has produced music for talented acts like MXO, Mac Jays, Peggy, Dudu Ndlovu, Mayé and a host of others. As one of the most sought after performers Kunle has appeared in lots of jazz concerts, notably Joy of Jazz, Jazz By The River, MACFEST, Mapungubwe Jazz Festival and Joy of Jazz International Festival. But what makes him such an exceptional stage performer? ''What makes my shows special is the positive response I receive from the audience. My philosophy on live entertainment is that I don't play for the people but I play with the people. But perhaps the answer lies in the meaning of his name. Loosely translated Kunle means ''abundance'' in his native Yoruba tongue. Literally ''kun'' means ''to ...
