| | Brandon Johnson Scream CD Brandon Johnson Discography of CDs
Born November 28, 1980 in the east Texas cotton town of Greenville, Brandon Johnson began playing seriously with his Back Porch Band while studying International Business and Marketing during his tenure at Baylor University in Waco, TX. After finding a comfortable home in the Alternative-Country/Roots-Rock genre, and following two smaller B-level releases (Self titled-2001 and A Long Time Coming-2003), Brandon recruited industry renowned producers Steven Collins (Deadman) and Pete Coatney (Jack Ingram's Beat Up Ford Band) in 2004 and began recording his first A-level major project. Brandon Johnson's SCREAM was released January 14, 2005 in an attempt to explore new sonic boundaries while still showcasing the intense imagery found in his writing. An all-original composition, SCREAM features songs that are as colorful as its name. From mood-treated ballads like Rebound and October Prayer to powerful, stadium-filled anthems like Breakdown and Little Sister , Brandon not only captured sincere emotion, but also succeeded in demonstrating his versatility in composition and arrangement. In 2003 Brandon found himself on the Texas Music Tour (TMT) with a long and distinguished list of Lone Star artists. And in the summer of 2004 the first ever Barefoot and Unplugged tour was launched. An enormous success, the Barefoot and Unplugged tour featured Brandon along with two selected guests in a raw “stripped-down” setting at numerous acclaimed venues across Texas. However, even with constant playing and two major tours under his belt, Brandon was looking for another project to begin. Shortly after the U.S. release of SCREAM in January 2005, Brandon embarked on two national tour spanning some eighteen states in a total of 45 days. The All-American University Tours I and II (AAUT) concentrated on appearing and showcasing at major university towns across the United States. Critically acclaimed, AAUT was a huge hit at college towns, and bolstered the SCREAM to one of the hottest new independent releases in the U.S. and Europe. When he is not headlining and promoting his own events, Brandon showcases with regional and national acts. Having shared the stage with countless alt-country regional artists such as Jack Ingram, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff Walker, Charlie Robison, Roger Creager, and Robert Earl Keen, Brandon has also shared the neon light with national rock and country artists such as Fuel, Collin Raye, The Nixons, Deadman, and Montgomery Gentry. Brandon has also been recognized by numerous regional and national organizations for his work both on and off stage. In 2001 Brandon Johnson and his Back Porch Band were awarded “Best Collegiate Band” by the National Panhellenic council member Kappa Delta. In 2002 he swept the TruValue National Country Music Showcase at the regional level in both the songwriting and performance categories. And in 2004 Brandon was announced a regional participant and guest in the Shinerbock Rising Star series, where he was recognized for his creative songwriting and composition. Brandon is affiliated with BMI publishing. Look and listen for Brandon to be "SCREAMing" in your town soon! Digitally remastered by George Horn (1995, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
Guided, perhaps, by musical snobbery or roots-rock phobia, some people inexplicably don't like Creedence Clearwater Revival. As the kings of earnest country-inflected rock in an age when radical stances were de rigueur, CCR sported straight-ahead tunes, and may have seemed a bit unhip. But their music stands the test of time with a vengeance. For the doubtful listener, this outstanding, 20-track hits collection has evidence ...
| | Keith Jarrett Rarum, Vol. 1: Selected Recordings CDs (2002) Digipak
Scream music CDs
$21.99 The object of ECM's handsomely Digipak-aged Rarum series is to have its roster of artists -- past and present -- select their favorite performances on the label. Which leads to the next question: Is the artist always the best judge of his or her own material? With that in mind, Keith Jarrett's choices for his two-CD set, the first volume of this series, are sure to be some of the most interesting, wide-ranging, surprising, and controversial of the whole lot. Listeners have had fair warning -- ECM's previous Jarrett sampler, ECM Works, was also gleefully unpredictable -- but Rarum, Vol. 1: Selected Recordings gives you a much better idea of the staggering variety of Jarrett's interests over a 21-year span than the earlier disc. In his brief liner notes (it would have been nice to have had more memories about each of these selections), Jarrett confesses that he deliberately went for the esoteric; clearly the man is supremely confident that his fans will hear him out. Jarrett opens his treasure chest in a really eccentric way with three excerpts from his clavichord album Book of Ways -- two neo-Baroque, one a bit wearisome. There are no less than five rather engaging swatches from Jarrett's overlooked experimental Spirits album, where he overdubs himself on soprano sax, recorders, piano, and percussion. There is more from Jarrett's piping, edgy soprano saxophone in two excerpts from Invocations -- first in a cloud of reverb, then in a cloud of pipe organ -- and listeners hear one ferociously dissonant excerpt from the Spheres section of the pipe organ album Hymns/Spheres (now a rarity, since only Hymns was issued on CD). ...

Scream songs
$13.69 Born in Hamilton Ontario, this son of a steelworker comes from a rich historical lineage of musicians. His Mother is an award-winning vocalist and his crippled Uncle was a champion fiddler that dominated the Maritime fiddling competition circuit in the 40's and 50's. Constantly surrounded by talent and song by practically every other family member, it would only seem natural for David Gillis to continue in the same tradition. David is living up to his reputation as a true virtuoso ...
