The Yankee kills the Confederate rebel, and then, and then in order to save himself, puts on the rebel's uniform. Attempting to find his way back to his own regiment, the Yankee is captured as a deserter by Colonel Arthur Medraut of the 34th Louisiana who is fighting a defensive action against Sherman's army. The impersonator is saved by Hamlet, one of the Colonel's slaves, who heads a trio of slaves who travel with the 34th Louisiana for the sole purpose of entertaining the Colonel and his troops with scenes from Shakespeare. The Yankee finds himself traveling with the ill-fated regiment as they back their way towards the burning city of Atlanta, part of this strange little band of actors, learning about love, Shakespeare and revenge.Marcus Hummon, has been one of Nashville's most consistently successful and innovative songwriters, and was named "Nashville's Top Songwriter" by the Nashville Scene's Readers Poll three years in a row. $15.95 During 2004 at age 65 singer / songwriter Claude Diamond released his debut CD "Diamond Dust" on the Vettset label. The CD reached #21 on the Roots Country airplay chart and # 51 on the Americana chart. Now he's released his second album "Highway of Life" and it reached #7 on the Roots chart,#36 on the Americana chart and #11 on the FAR chart."Highway" includes eleven original Americana / roots songs and is a diverse mix of musical styles including bluegrass, Cajun, blues and country. In the manner of Billy Joe Shaver and John Prine, he writes and sings about the realities of life using both humor and sadness to tell his unique stories.Claude writes and performs the music you wish you could hear on mainstream country radio, but can't. If you're looking for some great original stories written in a fresh style, you'll love this album! Some are funny, some are sad and all are a pleasure to hear. Once you start listening you'll keep riding until the highway ends.Claude started performing during the late 1950's in Mississippi honky tonks around Natchez and Hattiesburg. During those years he played rockabilly and blues. After graduating from college in 1960 he put the music dream on hold. Then in 2004 he decided to bring out his debut CD of original Americana / Roots Country music. He performs acoustic shows primarily in the Southeastern United States, Europe and the UK. WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYINGHighway Of Life, consists of 11 of the finest country music I've come across for some time. Honky Tonkin' Housewife album
$15.19 Mr. Maps is an instrumental rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Mr. Maps was formed in early 2008, based on a body of work composed by Chris Perren as a QUT Honours submission. The group has since moved on to become a highly collaborative unit of musicians, writing new material which draws on the diverse influences and styles of each member. In the short time since Mr. Maps’ formation, the band has created a surprising buzz amongst Brisbane music lovers with their precise and energetic live show. They have played only 12 shows in Brisbane so far, but have managed to pack out venues for most of their performances, and supported high-profile Brisbane bands such as The Rational Academy and Re:enactment. The original material for Mr. Maps’ songs was created through a process of recording improvised jams, then cutting and combining those sounds into new works. The result was a very organic texture punctuated by electronic glitches and cuts, bridging the gap between the folktronica of Four Tet and the grand post-rock sounds of Mogwai or Sigur Ros. The compositions eschewed an air of optimism rarely found in the indie music of today. With the completion of this material, Mr. Maps exploded into a 5-piece band, re-working Perren’s original tunes with each member contributing their own creative personality to the songs. New songs were written and the band began to develop its own unique personality. Live reviews were littered with such words as “precise”, “intricate” and “beautiful”. Sonic comparisons were made with bands such as Battles, Explosions in the Sky, toe, Pinback, and 65daysofstatic. ...
