Okay, so this is about trying to come to terms with this life without letting it turn you dark and cold. Watching friends pass, listening to the knocking of nothing, the deep abiding fear, the love lost. Looking for direction from god, friends, poets, Richard Rorty ... keeping track of those who have fallen by the wayside... burned their last match and grope through for meaning ... trying to take a warning and not follow them that way. It's no secret that one of the most powerful weapons in Zappa's arsenal was his sense of humor, which was at its height in live performance. Consequently, there's no better way to get a feel for the full scope of Zappa's music than on the live ROXY & ELSEWHERE. This set finds Frank at his mid-'70s peak, working with Ruth Underwood, Don Preston, George Duke, etc. While all the tunes are technically impeccable (often featuring trademark feats of counter-intuitive derring-do), it's Zappa's ...

$13.15 HafLife: The Epic Length version InstrumentationMD20/20- vocalsHandi J-guitar, programmingmbolism- bass V- DrumsBiographyHaflife formed in 2000 from three remaining members of Detroit's "way before their time" band Mental Landscape. After releasing their first full length cd in 2004 as Haflife, the band won the Best Industrial Band category of the Detroit Music Awards. With over four nominations under their belts, the band is looking forward to expanding their audience with the addition this year of a new drummer, "V". V is a veteran of Detroit bands Skinhorse and Passion Nouveau, as well as being a guest drummer in many other Motor City bands. He adds a new, solid foundation to the already infectious grooves created by guitarist Handi J and Haflife's fearless leader, MD2020. MD2020 is a family practice/urgent care physician who has been featured in almost every Detroit media outlet for his combination of rock mentality and his medical background. Known as "the punk rock doc", his peers in the medical community are often unappreciative of that combination, but the local music scene loves it! Not many bands can brag they have their own personal physician on lead vocals. He brings an interesting, intellictual flavor to the lyrics. The son of motorcycle legend Chet Hall, who was renowned for his custom built Harley Davisons, MD2020 is part physician, part biker, part Mad Doctor, and a master showman on stage. He is the epitome of what makes Haflife so unique. Mbolism, one of the few five stiring female bassists in Detroit, has been playing bass for almost 20 years, and has been working with the Mad Doc for 13 of those. Described as Detroit's version of Anthony ...

| | Bros Marler Songs For Pluto CD (2007)
Don't Go Dark
$13.15 The Bros. Marler, were conceived in a freak accident involving a noble, and strapping young man trying to rescue his neighbors cat and a lovely farmers daughter who was simply trying to cool off under the shade of a willow tree. The young mans faulty step broke the branch of the willow tree in such a fashion that created a sharp edge of the fractured limb, so that when falling, dad, as the bros. later called him harpooned his left testicle, and landed on top of the unexpecting girl, now referred to as mom. The result was rather serious, in that the somewhat thin, straight branch stuck into the girl piercing the skin near the pelvis causing a deep wound that went all the way down to her ovaries. The immediate reaction was to pull the stick out, which caused the testicle to be lodged inside her. Frantically, they rushed to the hospital, where surgeons carefully removed the testicle, cleaned and successfully closed the wound. The strange and traumatic event instigated an instant friendship, and almost miraculously, soon after the incident while still a virgin, she discovered that she was pregnant. Nine months later she had twins, and by all accounts from those who were in the prenatal ward, they came out of the womb screaming in harmony. It was destined that music was their fate. The bros. played music all of their life and as young adults, when destiny called they moved from Opelika, Al. to Athens, Ga. Both brothers played rigorously together and with other bands while finishing college(philosophy/history). Throughout their lives the bros. were confronted with the metamorphosis of a memory. When once as children, their father got a phone number from a strange man with a large head, and huge dilated eyes who told them that the phone call would allow them to hear the return of radio waves long ago sent to bounce off of the now demoted planet Pluto. When they called, the sounds heard were more like white noise carried by a somewhat systematic, rythmic pulse. The twins were impressed, excited, and never really quite the same. As time went on, different catalyst within their lives and some ...
