Purchase Gravity CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Shakira She Wolf CD (2009)
Gravity album
$11.18 Last time around, Shakira touched upon so many styles she couldn't be contained on one album, splitting Oral Fixation in two. This time, she focuses on one sound only: a pulsating electro-disco that crosses all boundaries and welcomes all nationalities. Such concentration behooves Shakira, freeing her to release her inner She Wolf, a wild wacko who's as coo coo as she is carnal. And for as sexy as Shakira is -- crucially, her music is sexy too -- what really gives She Wolf its bite is her inspired nuttiness, how she laments that Matt Damon's not meant for her, and wishes her ex-lover and his new girl a horrible vacation where the room smells and the toilet doesn't flush. "Darling, it is no joke, this is lycanthropy," she sings on the title track with no small trace of humor, and this blend of cheerful weirdness and sick beats -- often supplied by the Neptunes, delivering tough, sensual rhythms in a way they haven't in a long time, but also John Hill and Wyclef Jean -- is giddily addicting, a celebration of all the strange sensuality that comes out at night. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Luther Vandross This Is Christmas CD (1995)
Gravity CD music
$6.55 This stellar 1995 Christmas album is not your typical release of holiday standards. In fact, Luther helped pen most of the songs on this album. His originals include the excellent "With a Christmas Heart," "This Is Christmas," and "A Kiss for Christmas." But for those with an allegiance to the standards, "My Favorite Things" and "O' Come All Ye Faithful" are duly included among these 10 lovely tracks. Well-known bassist/arranger/producer Marcus Miller plays on some of the tracks, while well-coifed '80s rock balladeer ...

| | Michael Jackson Dangerous CD (1991) Remastered; Special Edition
Gravity songs
$7.59 Principally recorded at Record One Studios & Larrabee Studios, Los Angeles, California. Originally released on Epic/Sony (45400).
Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
After a lengthy gap of nearly five years, Jackson had to pull something out of the bag. BAD was, after all, a difficult act to follow, and the press were trying to prove he was bonkers. This was a pretty decent attempt and fell in with the hard dance beat of the early 90s. "Heal The World" was much like the old melodic Jackson, and it became a major hit. "Black Or White" was the best of the rest, a well-constructed song in which he attempted to repeat "Ebony And Ivory" in the context of 90s dance music.
Despite the success of Bad, it was hard not to view it as a bit of a ...

| | Baby Jaymes Ghetto Retro CD (2005)
Gravity album
$12.69 GHETTO RETRO Baby Jaymes, from East Oakland, California creates "Ghetto Retro", a combination of Tony! Toni! Tone!, Macy Gray, Prince, and Outkast. Rarely does one chance upon material so raw yet refined, hip but conscious. Baby Jaymes' imaginative Ghetto Retro encompasses pure musical revelation. Born and raised in Oaktown, Baby Jaymes embarked upon his musical journey in the style of a true hustler-at the age of 13 he snuck into the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards and recognized music as his life's passion. From that moment on his collaborations with his mentor Raphael Saadiq, and funk legend George Clinton constantly encouraged his persistence for perfection. Bridging the gap between music and Hollywood, Baby Jaymes has had songs credited to motion pictures, recording a duet with actor Jamie Kennedy for the hit film "Malibu's Most Wanted", the urban comedy "My Baby's Daddy" and "Any Given Sunday" by special request from the director himself, Oliver Stone, who was so impressed after hearing Jaymes' socially aware lyrics. Current lifestyle and events underlies his creative definition of music. A self taught lyricist who embarks upon a quest to change the status quo as well as a revolutionary in the early stages of a revolution that brings true artistry and talent to the forefront of popular music today. Baby Jaymes is the future of music. Dedicated to his audience, Baby Jaymes' creative inspiration flows instinctively. Victimized by tepid songs we hear on the radio today, baby Jaymes forged ahead bringing us Ghetto Retro-offering a pure alternative from the manufactured sound widely accepted. Now, he has added to his list of achievements the debut album, Ghetto Retro. Baby Jaymes' influences are experienced through the wide diversity of his material. Baby Jaymes has been known to refer to himself in wit as "the Black Beck", and like Beck he is a true chameleon. One truly embraces the journey. The world of Baby Jaymes literally channels early Prince (yes, jammin' gutar riff is prevalent) along with evenly blended, laid back delivered Sly Tone lyrics. Experience what baby Jaymes defines as "more power to the pen" while listening to "society conscious" single "Ghetto Life". Shades of geniuses like Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye come to mind throughout the Baby Jaymes experience, especially on "Win or Lose", and "Tricks", because of their personal reflective lyrical energy. "Nasty R&B Singer" and "Miss Taboo" solidifies the modern old school ...
