After almost 4 years since their last album, IRIS finally returns in 2003 with their new record, "Awakening". The first full-length release from the band since 1999's "Disconnect", "Awakening" showcases the band's evolution into a modern electro-pop force. Vocalist/songwriter Reagan Jones has created a work of passionate, intense songs that recall the heyday of synth-driven pop. New member Andrew Sega (The Alpha Conspiracy) takes over production duties for this record, and brings elements of IDM and electro to the pop mix, creating an evocative, modern sound. Instrumentally, the record covers diverse ground, ranging from pulsing beat-driven anthems to dreamlike, textured ballads. The disc also includes an electrifying version of the Seven Red Seven classic, "You're the Answer".Visit IRIS on the web at http://www.irismusic.com. Iris Awakening Songs | 1. | Whatever |

$5.99 RAY OF LIGHT won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album and for Best Recording Package, and was nominated for Album Of The Year. "Ray Of Light" won the 1999 Grammy for Best Dance Recording and Best Short Form Music Video, and was nominated for Record Of The Year.
Relentlessly contemporary, RAY OF LIGHT pairs Madonna with producer William Orbit, an electronics wizard who has worked with major R&B acts and even such modern rockers as Blur and Depeche Mode. Reportedly, Madonna tried to snare Liam Howlett of high-strung techno-rockers the Prodigy into the project--Howlett claims to have turned her down. But the more dextrous, less in-your-face Orbit was probably a better choice ...

Awakening CD music
$9.65 Bibio's Stephen Wilkinson had a banner year in 2009. He rang it in with Vignetting the Compost, an album that seemed to beckon spring with its delicate, pastoral electronics, then took his music several steps forward with that summer's Ambivalence Avenue, which was as dazzling as it was eclectic. Wilkinson closed the year with The Apple and the Tooth's hybrid of new songs and remixes by similarly wide-ranging artists who found plenty of ways to push Ambivalence Avenue's tracks in ...

| | Fading Collection Interactive Family Radio CD (2003)
Awakening album
$15.19 In a city where rain and caffeine dominate the culture The Fading Collection has emerged as one of Seattle's hottest trip-hop artists. With a sound that fluctuates between the disguised truth of unexpressed emotion, acute pain and the everlasting hope of the human spirit, these songs resonate with something that is not easily described.Along with some serious airplay on taste making terrestrial/internet Seattle radio station KEXP, a nomination for best electronic artist in town from the Seattle Weekly, and regular gigs at trendy night spots like Seattle's Tost and Portland's Club Ohm, The Fading Collection has won fans around the world with their dark beats, angelic vocals and groundbreaking digital manipulation. After meeting in college, singer Sarah McCulloch and bassist/programmer Matt Frickleton joined forces in the band Shiver before ditching the acoustic guitars for a rack of synthesizers and a pile of Massive, Portishead and DJ Shadow albums. After pushing through a series of drummers the pair finally found the perfect fit in Jeremy Hill. Before long, the group's debut release, Interactive Family Radio, busted onto the scene and sparked a trip-hop renaissance in the Northwest. The Fading Collection soon found enthusiastic fans around the block and around the globe with tens of thousands of tracks downloaded on MP3.com, music placed in the indie films Pyrosutra and Feeding the Hawk, placements on MTV's The Real World, and a full schedule of shows in the Northwest. While The Fading Collection log studio hours for their upcoming double disc set-half uptempo, half chillout-the group enlisted some top Seattle ...

| | DJ Kenneth A Enemy Within CD (2007)
Awakening songs
$12.65 The Enemy Within is the third cd from DJ Kenneth A. Taking a more cinematic turn, this album focuses on the one thing we all must come to terms with. Read Below for a Review of The Enemy Within:DJ Kenneth A :: The Enemy Within Artist :: DJ Kenneth AAlbum :: The Enemy WithinLabel :: DIYPlay This Cut First :: The DestroyerIn a Word :: InspiringWhen we started Blog Rockin' Beat, one of the main things we wanted to do was give indie artists without label support some attention. Album's like DJ Kenneth A's The Enemy Within are why. Musicians who are not facing label pressure for new records or vigorous touring schedules have more time for the creative process. And when that happens, you can hear the music mature from release to release. From his previous effort, Saint Elmo and the Osprey, to his latest offering, The Enemy Within, the progress is almost staggering. One of the most noticeable aspects of Saint Elmo and the Osprey was the eclecticism and range shown. The Enemy Within is not as eclectic. Instead, DJ Kenneth has taken some of the most captivating elements from his previous efforts and developed them even further, such as: lush string arrangement, haunting piano melodies, and production values that sound crystal clear in a small set of earbuds or pumping through a 1000-watt system.Adding to the strings and keys that sound remarkably like VNV Nation at times - check out the opening cut,"From Here to There Without Looking Back" for the best orchestration VNV Nation never wrote - DJ Kenneth A has brought new percussive techniques into the mix, such as breakbeats and elements of glitch in the beats, pads, and lead lines. The results fits comfortably in the realm of BT, Hybrid, and The Orb. What you are hearing is the genre of symphonic breaks starting.Another pleasant surprise is the use of vocals. On The Enemy Within, DJ Kenneth A gives us vocals from other indie artists: Jason McGovern (on "Damage Control playing below", Chad Wys (on a remix of Chad's "Dust in My Eyes"), and his own voice on "Like an Ocean". The last is particularly daring as most DJs would ever put their own voice on a track. The thing that makes The Enemy Within a must have, however, is the overwhelming sense of honesty and genuineness. By reducing the spectrum of sounds and styles, this disc has a depth that his other's have hinted ...
