The production team of Keith Perry (KP) and Woodley St. Germain (Wood Black) grew up with music in their midst with artists like Grand Master Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Red Alert, KRS-One and other pioneers. The new concepts of how people were integrating melodies, beats and lyrics like they heard as youngsters in their fathers' cars or on the radio was intoxicating and both jump in head first. This major music venture, being a first for both KP and Wood Black, was the culmination of two separate journeys that arrived at the same spot- Studio K Productions, where they began banging out tracks and as they put it, "getting back to basics".The name of the album "Basick" comes from the blank canvas that had to be filled- painted with snares, kicks, keys, basses, horns and other sounds that lead to the final musical motif. The project was a leap of faith and a test of will that lasted for more than a year. With Basick, your ears get to experience an instrumental house project banging out a range of moods- the funky, the funny, the hyper, the mellow, the twisted, the hypnotic and more. Your head will nod and your body will move. Tracks like "Ride" and the title track "Basick" with their simple and hypnotic melodies will enchant your hearing into musical submission. This debut album is a euphonious mix to two different style that have been blended and carefully balanced. You can expect more from this new team that believe in getting back to the basics of musical expression. As they like to put it, "It's all about the music." Purchase Basick CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Janet Jackson Number Ones CDs (2009)
Basick album
$15.98 Number Ones replaces Design of a Decade, released 14 years prior. Excepting the new song "Make Me" (hard neo-disco/funk excellence), each song here was indeed a number one hit on Billboard's various charts, though "Got 'Til It's Gone" sneaks through a side door via the Japanese charts. One number one, oddly, is missing: "So Excited," a perfectly fine, 2006 single which topped the club chart. This set is more thorough with 1986-1996, too, adding Herb Alpert's "Diamonds" -- which would not have been out of place on Control, given Jam & Lewis' production and Janet's precedence over Alpert's trumpet -- as ...

Basick songs
$14.38 Lest you believe Little Dragon lack an aesthetic spine, their shift away from low-key left-field hip-hop, plaintive piano ballads, and acoustic jazz--a combination that helped make their debut a cult classic--seems more natural after a couple spins. There's no way around the fact that most of MACHINE DREAMS is icy electro-pop, but it is not as if the truly singular Yukimi Nagano, an enamoring vocalist, ...
| | Barry White All-Time Greatest Hits CD (1995)
Basick album
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction to White's achievements. Like his forebear Isaac Hayes, White was not just a deep-voiced crooner, but a talented producer and arranger who'd spent years honing his craft behind the scenes in the industry. And like Hayes, White spent a great deal of time setting up moods on his albums, using lush, sweeping orchestrations to build very gradually to climaxes. (Actually, that probably explains a good deal of ...
| | Best Of Sade CD (1994)
Basick CD music
$9.59 Digitally remastered by Tom Coyne (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
Nigerian vocalist Sade Adu has carved out a cosmpolitan niche for herself over the past decade, gathering together elements of cool jazz, samba, reggae, funk and pop all under the pastoral umbrella of her suede-and-velvet voice. A pop stylist with a musical universe all her own, Sade has endured and matured over the past decade, seemingly unaffected by changes in taste and fashion--a movement unto herself.
As her most recent single (Percy Mayfield's "Please Send Me Someone To Love" from the PHILADELPHIA soundtrack) illustrates, Sade's coy caressing voice speaks more of commitment and trust, of relationships in flux ("Nothing Can Come Between Us") than of the heat of the moment: from the the coy duplicity of "Smooth Operator" to the positive reinforcement of "The Sweetest Taboo" and the sweet ambiguities of "Love Is Stronger Than Pride."
Outside of Sade's mentholated vocals, it is the serene, understated quality of her arrangements that lend THE BEST OF SADE its ...
| | Johnny Shines Heritage Of The Blues CD (2003) Remastered
Basick music CDs
$9.69 As part of the Heritage of the Blues series on Hightone Records, Skull & Crossbones Blues provides a well-rounded retrospective of blues guitarist and onetime Robert Johnson cohort Johnny Shines. These 12 tracks capture Shines in a number of different settings, including both acoustic and electric, solo, and fronting a legendary Chicago band with Big Walter Horton, Otis Spann, and Fred Below. Shines' Robert Johnson influence is investigated on versions of "Standing at the Crossroads" and "Rollin' & Tumblin'," while material recorded in Los Angeles in the 1970s includes a snippet of guitarist Luther Allison at the beginning of his career. The tracks have been digitally remastered and lovingly compiled by fan and Hightone artist Dave ...
