Sistah Girl's Lament album
$14.44 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known for his work with Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon, but King hardly pushes Norah in a rock direction; The Fall does bear some mild echoes of Fiona Apple or Aimee Mann in ballad mode, but its arrangements never ...

Sistah Girl's Lament songs
$6.69 Saxophonist Jeff Barash is a straight-ahead acoustic jazz musician whose playing references include Stan Getz, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins. Bouncin' on 160th Avenue showcases an introspective collection of unexpected originals and even more unexpected standards. Featuring electric guitarist Mike Owen, Bouncin' on 160th Avenue often resembles the ambient and melancholy recordings that trumpeter Chet Baker made in Europe with Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine. When Barash and company stretch out like this on tunes such as Dave Liebman's "Oasis" and the saxophonist's own "Nationalistic World," the group conveys an artistic intimacy lacking in many small-group jazz releases. ~ Matt Collar

Sistah Girl's Lament songs
$18.19 Biography of Linda Kay ThompsonLinda Thompson, Christian folk artist, was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in the small town of Kodak, Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains. Her parents encouraged her interest in music by providing music lessons in piano, voice and guitar. In her teens, Linda accepted Christ as her Savior and began a new journey in life with the desire to sing songs for Him. She continues to seek a closer walk with God through daily Bible study and prayer. Today, Linda has two beautiful daughters, Sarah and Maria, which follow their mother in musical gifting. It’s no wonder, given musical genetics and the flea markets, schools and churches Linda sang in during the years she home schooled the girls. After years of requests, God opened the door for Linda to make her first CD, titled Jesus, Shine on Me, in 2001. On it, Linda’s clear mellow voice is embellished with guitar, piano, violin, flute, cello, and bass viola. In 2002 Linda was asked to share her talents in the Ukraine, where she and her family took several mission trips over the course of two years. Linda sang at the crusade meetings and presented health talks, drawing from her previously earned Batchelor of Science in Nutrition. To the delight of the people, she even learned and performed a few songs in Russian.Upon every life a little rain must fall. In 2005, a series of tragedies—each alone enough to devastate a woman—befell Linda in quick succession. First, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then, the untimely death of her mother at the age of 65 was followed by a divorce when her husband of 25 years left her for another woman. But while these harsh realities could rob Linda of sleep and emotional tranquility, they couldn’t take her faith. Instead of giving up, Linda pressed closer to the side of Jesus, claiming His promises and welcoming ...
