FAT OF THE LAND was nominated for a 1998 Grammy for Best Rock Album. Among the most anticipated releases of 1997, The Prodigy's third full-length album is a bulldozing rock-techno hybrid. But while the guitar/samples/hyper-beats mosaic that made "Firestarter" an MTV breakout are found in every nook and cranny of this album, the overall building blocks are far more diverse, making it a tangible melting pot of pre-millennium pop styles. There's a definite hip-hop element here. During its early-'90s heyday, few could have predicted the enduring resilience of the Euro-dance format, as artists like Sasha, the Vengaboys, and Aqua have, at different times, successfully crossed over from the clubs to the European pop charts. The latest "happy hardcore" sensation is 23-year-old Swede Jonas Altberg -- better known as Basshunter -- who achieved multi-platinum success in mainland Europe with his 2006 single "Boten Anna," and topped the U.K. and Irish charts in late 2007 with an English version of the same, "Now You're Gone." Now You're Gone: The Album is Basshunter's first English-language album, featuring English-language remakes of tracks from his second Swedish release, LOL , as well as the Swedish originals "Boten Anna" and "Dota" (re-recorded as "All I Ever Wanted"). THANK YOU VERY LITTLE contains tracks recorded between 1986 and 1999, as well as an entire live show recorded in March 1993. This compilation should've never happened. After breaking up for the second time, Screeching Weasel could've easily walked away, content with their legendary legacy of bad-tempered, Ramones-style punk. Unfortunately, Ben Weasel probably needed to make another house payment. So, upon their third re-formation (and another handful of albums), an entire catalog of unreleased material was gathered and saved specifically for this occasion. Thank You Very Little collects a number of second-rate demo tracks and warped live versions of songs that are found in better condition on their eight previous albums. The opening track, "I Hate Old People," is unintentionally hysterical, thanks to its exaggerated toughness and middle-school lyrics. Not all the songs here are bad, though -- over half the collection consists of the angst-ridden pop-punk that Screeching Weasel were known for. He met and established a dialogue with both artists during the 80's,when he was living in New York City.
