In her early teens, Mel played acoustic guitar, learning 60's and 70's classics and wrote tons of poetry to pass the time. It wasn't until her late teens that Mel started out playing bass with several musicians in San Francisco. Ready for action, Mel joined newly formed, all-girl trio, Stellar, with Jill Haley from The Zodiac Killers on guitar and Christa Dibiase from Girl Band on drums.
