NICE GUYS CAN BE DARK TOO!Dear Enemy, creatively blends politically satircal lyrics about the 3 G's, (god, government, & girls), with soothing tempos, lush layers of sound, and seemingly random explosions of edgy melancholy. Their music is both intelligently sad and beautiful in its approach toward melody and harmony. Most people will notice that these guys are striving to do something completely different from the typical L.A. rock band. Regardless of the genre of music they attempt, (which are many), it all somehow manages to maintain a distinct cohesive identity. Some songs are so quiet that the band themselves could carry on a soft conversation, where other songs are so explosive that the audience is nearly taken aback by their 0 to 7.0 richter scale dynamics. This is a very emotionally effective ensemble. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the artwork throughout their debut CD is absolutely hilarious! Dear Enemy, album
$11.18 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about song.something perfectly appropriate for a make-out album like this. Sometimes, Mayer dips too heavily toward ...

Dear Enemy, CD music
$19.34 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long wait by offering almost too much music, cherrypicking highlights from 1978 to 2007. In its simplest incarnation, Live Anthology is a super-affordable, four-disc box set running 48 tracks, which is eight cuts longer ...

Dear Enemy, songs
$11.18 Lou Reed never struck anyone as one of the happiest guys in rock & roll, so some fans were taken aback when his 1984 album New Sensations kicked off with "I Love You, Suzanne," a catchy up-tempo rocker that sounded a lot like a pop tune. After reaffirming his status as one of rock's greatest poets with The Blue Mask and Legendary ...

| | Jamie Leonhart Forward Motion CD (2006)
Dear Enemy, album
$14.79 A brief personal description: I am a terrible tap-dancer, but a promising flamenco dancer (except not great at castanets.) I am great at details but sometimes miss the big picture. A lot of the time, I am not incredibly motivated by more than fear. I am earnest. I love to read and draw, unless I feel uninspired or unoriginal. I love to sing.A brief musical history (the nitty gritty): First documented live recording: age three singing the alphabet song. Began playing the violin that same year. Joined orchestra at the age of seven – experienced serious bass and cello envy, particularly because the girls got to wear pants, instead of ankle length skirts.First (un)documented theatrical production: Age seven: a two-girl re-enactment of “A Chorus Line.” No tits or ass to speak of, but a lot of verve.I never got the solos in chorus that I wanted, like the intro to “When You Wish Upon a Star” in 6th grade. Finally at the age of 13 had my voice heard in a jazz vocal ensemble. At 17, I figured out that I identified a lot more as a singer than a violinist, and gently put my violin into semi-retirement (coaxed with a drink and promise of beachfront property.) Sang all throughout college [while getting a degree in English literature] in clubs, dives and theatres, including a stint as a back-up singer for a group called “Pet the Poodle.” I was a poodette. Hmm. Met up with an old friend on a trip to Nashville and began writing songs, the first of which won a prize in the first International John Lennon Songwriting ...
