{{ on sale now for $10.97, regularly $13.97 }}Found Sound is the addictive sonic offering from San Francisco based outfit, Sizemix. The title is not only symbolic of the band solidifying their own sound but also a testament to their compositional process. Sizemix found a way to translate their fluid improvisational structures into an album format. The tracks for the album were culled from what was previously free thematic material taken from their live repertoire.Sizemix is a genre blurring three-piece group consisting of Turntables, Guitar, and Bass. Their resulting sound blends elements of improvisation and their own take on trip-hop/hip-hop/downtempo electronic forms into an original format. Each member brings a unique background and perspective on music to the table, adding to the diverse directions their sound takes, and expanding the possibilities in tonal experimentation. All three members played for 2 years together in Varius Ardis, a five-piece (add trumpet and drums) before forming Sizemix in the Fall of 2002DJ Eye: TurntablesA DJ and Producer force to be reckoned with, DJ Eye is changing the way the Turntables fit in with live music. He has appeared with Del the Funky Homosapien, Tre Hardson, Lifesavas, and Madgesdiq and also performs with A Typical DJ and Ramiz the Manchild in the Turntablist/Hip-Hop group, Subliminal Twinkeez.Mike Nissen: GuitarA talented visual artist as well as natural musician, Mike brings his unique approach to guitar and live looping concepts to the mix. As with DJ Eye, Mike is changing the ways his instrument and live guitar looping function in a stripped down trio format. Mike has played in several Jazz, Funk, and Rock bands over the years and is a certified luthier, playing a custom guitar he built in 1999. Mike's keen sensitivity and taste are a crucial ingredient to the Sizemix sound as are his fresh perspectives on sound color and contagious optimism. His role as principal "painter" in Sizemix is faithfully fulfilled and not to be missed.Jason Hoopes: BassJason, a multi-instrumentalist, has worked in Metal, Progressive Rock (Hermetic Science), Big Band/Jazz/Blues, Rock (Alias Real, Finius), Hip-Hop, and experimental/improvisatory ensembles and brings a unique versatility to Sizemix. He holds a BS in Music Composition from Southern Oregon University and plans to obtain his MA in Composition from Mills College, Oakland, over the next couple years. In addition to performing in multiple groups, Jason also performs solo improvisations and continues to compose for a variety of musicians. Found Sound
$76.85 Let's start by saying that there aren't any other collections of Darby and Tarlton's work currently available, so if you want any of it, you've got to take it all. Having said that, one should add that there isn't a bad song among the 70 surviving tracks (among 84 recorded) included on these three CDs, and anyone who enjoys white country-blues should seriously consider saving up for it. The duo's first recording features the kind of spirited vocal and guitar interplay that would characterize their subsequent work together. The appeal of the double-barrel ...

| | Enlited Wonz Invasion Of The Intelligent Lifeforms CD (2002)
Found Sound
$15.19 After 2 years recording with producer Hendrik David Gideonse XIX of Indecent Music, the Enlited Wonz are proud to present their debut album "Invasion of the Intelligent Lifeforms." Enlited Wonz exploit scientific and spiritual metaphors, which reflect their belief in Nuwaubu, an ancient Nubian science of life, that literally means "right knowledge, right wisdom, and right overstanding." As subjects of Nuwaubu, the Enlited Wonz approach life with a sincere heart, open mind and controlled emotions and exude it in their lyrics.Kenneth Jacques, best known as Sham-Ra, the explosive founder of the Enlited Wonz, was born in Brooklyn, New York to Ygenise Jean and Jean Louis Jacques. They honored a strict Haitian-Christian lifestyle that isolated Sham-Ra from the streets. Sham writes, "Growing up with a Mom that is very religious can have a big affect on children in a society of so-called low class people. My Mom's positive energy and father's discipline made me the man that I am today." In 1989, Sham-Ra began writing rhymes, poetry and songs with the intention of motivating his audience with positive inspiration and minimal profanity, much like the religious leaders from his childhood. Although Sham spent the early 1990's bouncing between New York and Boston, he focused on finishing school and his music. He closed the decade with spiritual study in Georgia that solidified his devotion to Nuwaubu. Shortly after returning to Boston, Sham-Ra signed with Indecent Music, where he continues to express his beliefs and talents. Sham-Ra incorporates science fiction, philosophy, humor and a variety of speaking voices into his flow. Sham is feared as one of New England's fiercest freestyle champions. The majestic Andrew W. Davis, a.k.a. Powerman Analyst, is a native to Boston. Analyst resides in Dorchester, where he developed his passion for music. He writes, "I had always been fascinated with the sounds and music coming up- listening to such artists as KRS-ONE, Wu Tang, Arrested Development and Chino XL." He'd beat box with friends in the train stations, spending long hours practicing his unique beatbox technique of singing an un-broken melody while maintaining a full kick-snare-hat beat at the same time. Taking the next step in his musical career, Powerman Analyst signed with Indecent Music. His stoic emotions combined with his child-like laughter only intensify his use of free verse and internal rhyme. On the first track of their new album, "Invasion of the Intelligent Life-forms," Powerman Analyst flows, "I sit with centipedes in dirty bushes/ rugged jungle armor/ burn the blasphemer/ I give a computer an asthma attack." Bio was born in the Bronx as Justin Charles, but he attributes much of his rearing to Powerman Analyst and Sham-Ra, his "big brothers." It is funny that Bio is the smallest of the three for his tremendous energy makes him huge. Bio ...
