Phil Collins / Mark Mancina Tarzan CD (1999)
Disney's Greatest, Vol. 1 Soundtrack songs All songs written by Phil Collins. Original score composed by Mark Mancina.
"You'll Be In My Heart" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media.
"You'll Be In My Heart" won the 1999 Academy Award For Best Song.
All songs written by Phil Collins. Instrumental score composed by Mark Mancina.
Where to turn when one needs a winning score to match a summer blockbuster? Try matching Grammy award winning composer Mark Mancina ("Speed," "Con Air," "Twister" and the 1998 remake of "Return To Paradise") and multiple Grammy winner, singer-songwriter Phil Collins for the job. For good measure, add to the CD an exclusive version of one of the more upbeat numbers (the Billy Joel influenced "Trashin' The Camp") which features the platinum vocal group 'N Sync, and you pretty much can't miss.
Collins' tunes are melodically lush and delivered with his trademark yearning tenor. Due to his other profession (drumming), one can always count on his songs to have compelling rhythmic drive as well. Marcina's score moves effortlessly through cinematic changes in rich, real (not overly synthesized) orchestrations, which also feature a good deal of percussion. His skillful hand turns the moods of the set pieces from tender to exciting, to heroic and back again.
TARZAN won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album.
Producers: Phil Collins, Mark Mancina, Rob Cavallo.
Personnel includes: Phil Collins.

Van Morrison Still on Top: The Greatest Hits CDs (2007) Top Seller
Disney's Greatest, Vol. 1 Soundtrack buy CD music There are 21 cuts on this Hip-O collection of Van Morrison's Greatest Hits. The interesting thing is that of these 21 cuts, only about half of them will be recognizable to the casual Van Morrison fan, as they come from his Bang sides and the far more popular Warner Brothers singles of the early '70s. As it should be, although there is one glaring omission: "Tupelo Honey" is absent from the song list. The rest may not have been greatest hits in America, but they do represent a fine -- if arguable -- selection of the material from the late '70s, '80s, and '90s. "Dweller on the Threshold" is here (though it sounds like an alternate take!) There is a bona fide alternate take of "The Healing Game" that sounds more like a well-executed demo and has plenty of Celtic soul. "Someone Like You" is here, as is "Wavelength," and some tunes that deserved far better than they got: "Tore Down à la Rimbaud," "Real Real Gone," "Bright Side of the Road," "Days Like This," and "Stranded." The early tunes are immediately recognizable, from "Brown Eyed Girl," "Gloria," "Here Comes the Night," "Domino," "Moondance," "Wild Night," and "Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven)." In sum, as far as the many repackaged greatest hits, this is one of the better ones as it is cross-licensed and contains a true evolutionary portrait of the artist on a journey that certainly winds and turns back on itself even as it moves forward. This is a good one with fine sound. [Polydor's 2008 Limited Edition box set included 20 bonus tracks across a three-CD package.] ~ Thom Jurek
2007 limited edition triple definitive collection with fifty-one classic tracks that chronicle Morrison's incredible musical journey to date, all remaining true to his mantra 'it’s always been about soul'. These musical milestones are culled from five decades of prolific recording. Among the gems included are 1995’s ‘Days Like This’, an alternative version of 1997’s ‘Healing Game’ and two already-classics from 2005: ‘Celtic New Year’ and ‘Stranded’. Still On Top moves seamlessly thru all phases of Morrison's long career that began in the 60s with the hat-trick of ‘Here Comes The Night’, ‘Gloria’ and ‘Brown-Eyed Girl’ and still hits new heights as the years go by. Highlights from the Seventies include ‘Domino’, ‘Jackie Wilson Said’ and ‘Warm Love’. Among those selected from the Eighties are the romantic ballad ‘Someone Like You’ (utilized for the film 'Bridget Jones’s Diary') and the glorious pop standard ‘Have I Told You Lately?’. Universal

Disney Princess: The Ultimate Song Collection CD (2004)
Disney's Greatest, Vol. 1 Soundtrack album for sale Disney Princess The Ultimate Song Collection is one of the better ideas for a Disney compilation: it's a collection of most of the memorable songs sung by the princesses in films spanning Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to Pocahontas and Mulan. The album opens with "If You Can Dream," a new song featuring all of the vocal talents behind the princesses in the later Disney movies. Like most diva collaborations, it's less than the sum of its parts, with bland songwriting detracting from the performances of Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid's Ariel), Lea Salonga (Aladdin's Jasmine and Mulan), Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas), and Paige O'Hara (Beauty and the Beast's Belle). However, the rest of the collection is strong, serving up memorable songs from latter-day Disney films like The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" and "Kiss the Girl" and The Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Kuhn's performances of Pocahontas' "Just Around the Riverbend" and "Colors of the Wind" are also standouts due to her striking voice, which is stronger and more womanly than most of the other singers who have given their voices to Disney princesses. Happily, the love songs from the studio's classic films get their due as well: the purity and sweetness of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' "Someday My Prince Will Come," Cinderella's "So This Is Love," and Sleeping Beauty's "Once Upon a Dream" are welcome reminders of these films' enduring quality. While it's not as necessary as some other Disney best-ofs, Disney Princess: The Ultimate Song Collection is still a charming celebration of fairy-tale romance. ~ Heather Phares

John Williams Greatest Hits: 1969-1999 CDs (1999) Top Seller
Disney's Greatest, Vol. 1 Soundtrack CD music In the second half of the 20th century, no composer has had a more lasting influence on Hollywood than John Williams. This collection of his music includes the famous signature film themes, but goes beyond to feature incidental music and themes for individual characters as well. Williams' potent use of a full orchestra creates themes that propel films. His best-known work is well represented: the themes from Star Wars, Jaws, and Superman are all here. However, lesser-known pieces such as "Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra" from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade are sure to thrill movie and music fans alike. Some of these recordings are from the original films, but far more of them are later recordings. All the sessions were conducted by the composer himself. The Boston Pops, Tanglewood, and Boston, Pittsburgh, London, and even the Skywalker Symphony Orchestras all lent their talents to this album. Such intergalactic talent makes for a thrilling ride through film music history.

Disney's Greatest, Vol. 1 Soundtrack buy CD music This is part of Walt Disney Records "DISNEY'S GREATEST" series.
Whether you're a baby boomer who grew up watching such classic Disney films as MARY POPPINS and THE JUNGLE BOOK, or a parent whose kids have developed an unnatural attachment to the likes of MULAN or THE LITTLE MERMAID, you'll find something to enjoy in DISNEY'S GREATEST VOL 2. This compilation of well-known songs from Disney films stretches all the way from 1937 (SNOW WHITE's "Someday My Prince Will Come") right up to the present.
On one hand, this disc offers an interesting thumbnail sketch of how movie soundtracks (and pop music) have changed throughout the 20th century. On the other hand, it's simply a solid collection of familiar tunes, from the haunting, Dick Van Dyke-sung "Chim Chim Cher-ee" to the Phil Collins pop ballad "You'll Be in My Heart" (from 1999's TARZAN).
