Stereo Sushi returns with a selection of the finest hi-fidelity house music, a home to the soulful, deeper, leading edge of Hed Kandi house music. 2006 sees Stereo Sushi growing up and getting a makeover, losing its cheeky youthful streak & gaining a more serene sophistication, yet still as passionate about the music as ever! This 8th edition presents a double platter of house anthems & sexy, groove-laden cuts sought by the house-loving Kandi faithful. The menu is in 2 courses, with all soulful, gospel-tinged US garage vocals & jazzier musicality on the 1st, entitled Stereo, featuring two Dennis Ferrer tracks, Copyright's Bring Me Love, DJ Spen's mix of Joey Negro's Make A Move On Me & Brian Tappert's finale remixing The Messengers ft Lisa Millett with Spreadlove. The 2nd course, Sushi, is a more raw selection of big room US house with cooler dub mixes aplenty from Louie Vega, DJ Spen (as Jasper Street Co.) and Karizma. Stereo Sushi album
$25.09 The second in the series of "soulful deep house lounging" doesn't include a wealth of important, individualistic tracks, but many of the inclusions are fine: Jody Watley's languorous vocal on "Saturday Night Experience" begins the first disc with class and the Blaze remix of Ananda Project's "Breaking Down" keeps the focus on New York/New Jersey garage. Other highlights by Miguel Migs (the sublime "Dubpusher") and Mondo Grosso keep the grooves deep on the first disc, while the second breaks out of the gate with "MAW's Theme" and keeps on pushing with tracks from Fantastic Plastic Machine, fellow Japanese producer Susumu Yokota, and a nice samba-themed Can 7 remix of the De la Soul/Chaka Khan collaboration "All Good." Still, Stereo Sushi isn't the usual 12" wrap-up for those who don't buy vinyl; both sets are unmixed, which leaves a bit lacking. ~ John ...

$19.19 Hed Kandi affiliate Stereo Sushi's third eponymous compilation offers two discs of unmixed house tracks, including Jody Watley's "Photographs (Restless Soul Remix)," Jon Cutler's "Dawn (Distant Music Mix)," Rasmus Faber's "Never Felt So Fly," Vincent Kwok's "What You Need Is Love (Test Press Mix)," Mistura's "Sweet Magic (Joey Negro Club Mix)," and Jamaica Underground's "Love Existing (Shelter Vocal Mix)." For every track that grabs the ear and doesn't let go until its conclusion, there are two others that are merely pleasant and lightly enjoyable. A lot of folks would no doubt prefer these tracks in a mixed format, but those who are collectors will love to have some of the previously ...

Stereo Sushi album
$23.45 With the seemingly never-ending issuing of Hed Kandi compilations (thanks in no small part to the recent purchase of the label by U.K. juggernaut Ministry of Sound), it's hard to differentiate at times which ones are quality and which ones are bargain-bin filler. This double disc starts off promising enough with two of the best downtempo acts around (4hero and Jazzanova), but from there it meanders into predictable, safe downtempo territory. There are bright moments here and there courtesy of Nouvelle Vague, Crazy P, and Rae & Christian, but over two discs these moments are few and far between. For those looking to create a relaxing atmosphere and who ...

Stereo Sushi CD music
$21.69 The deeply soulful soundtrack to Kandi's deliciously stylish summer, created with sights set firmly on sea, sand & all-round Balearic pleasure. It's all about the kind of deep soul-drenched mid-tempo house with a sassy Latin twist demanded by Kandi sunseekers everywhere. Late Night Alumni and Kaskade make an appearance along with a very special re-work of the Jam & Lewis-penned "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On". Of course, quality remix producers grace the ...
| | House Of Pain CD (1992)
Stereo Sushi music CDs
$9.75 With their brawling take on golden-age hip-hop (the drunken yang to Cypress Hill's blissed-out yin?), proud-to-be-Irish-American trio House of Pain could easily have been a tired cliché. However, with acrobatic, learned lyrics and dexterous beats farmed from bop, blues, and deep funk, the L.A. band of Everlast, Danny Boy, and DJ Lethal turned out to transcend predictability. While best known for "Jump Around," the frenetic sing-a-long that surprised even the band itself by becoming a #3 pop hit, the threesome's 1992 debut offers a vast array of styles ranging from the sly, hazy "Shamrocks & Shenanegans" to the sinister "House of Pain Anthem" to the sweetly lively "Top O' The Morning ...

France has long had a reputation as one of the great hotbeds of live jazz. French jazz enthusiasts are renowned for their passion for and knowledge of the music. As a result, it's very difficult to find a bad live jazz recording made in France; the audiences simply don't tolerate mediocrity.
Not that mediocrity was ever an issue with either Ella Fitzgerald or the Duke Ellington Orchestra, whose dynamism as performers and mastery of the genre are legendary. This two-disc set, which captures two sets recorded in the French Riviera ...

| | Sacred Sound Choir Mantra For Healing: Ancient Chant For Healing & Peace CD (2002)
Stereo Sushi songs
$13.39 Chanted for over 4000 years, the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is believed to be the most powerful of all the ancient Sanskrit mantras. It is used for healing on all levels--physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Some claim it has the ability to avert death. The vibrational intention of this mantra is for spiritual awakening. Mahamrityunjaya means "victory over the great death"--victory over the illusion that we are separate from Spirit. Use "Mantra for Healing" during and after surgery, to heal from illness or emotional trauma, as a meditation, for centering and calming the mind, for relaxation and massage, or played softly in the room of a person who is preparing for transition. In "Mantra for Healing," Karuna and the Sacred Sound Choir are accompanied by Barry Phillips on cello, dilruba, swar mandal, and tanpura.Karuna Ault (Producer, Sacred Sound Productions) has been singing in chanting ensembles and producing recordings for over 20 years, including the well-loved kirtan albums "Jai Govinda," "Murali Krishna," "Jaya Shambho," and "Jai Shiva!", as well as instrumental albums "Anjali" and "Inner Light."52 minute CD"Mantra for Healing" is the real thing. Beautiful to listen to, the full power of the ancient Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is captured in this new recording from Sacred Sound Productions. I recommend it to all those who want to fill their homes and cars with peace and healing."--Robert Gass, recording artist ...
