(54 Customer Reviews)
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
Fans waiting four years since his last full-length can celebrate: the long lay-off, brushes with the law, and gangsta stardom have done nothing to soften Project Pat's Dirty South attack. CROOK BY DA BOOK: THE FED STORY ignores current electro rap trends by sticking to Hypnotize Minds trademark gritty production, and Project Pat remains one of the few rappers who can still convincingly rap about life in the projects even after boasting of a million-seller. The disc includes the infectious single "Good Googly Moogly," quite possibly the funniest phrase ever used to describe the female posterior.
After being incarcarated for over three years, and with a stand-out feature on Three 6 Mafia smash "Poppin My Collar," Project Pat is set to release his fourth album on this dualdisc. He tours with Three 6 Mafia in June and July of 2006.Vibe (p.117) - "CROOK is tough-minded and punishing -- just what you'd expect from one of the South's finest vulgarians." This album is nothing short of perfect. Every track is hot. Hypnotize Minds are the best rap producers. All other rappers should retire right now. NORTH NORTH!... This CD was definitely worth tha money cuz Pat kept it gangsta as always. Every real street n.gga appreciate that! Crunk uptempo beats and Pat always speak tha truth and tell it like it is. This dude is tha definition of REAL and thats REAL TALK! I been listenin to Pat since Murderers and Robbers and I couldnt wait for him to get out tha pen! He did mature on this album doe but he still tha realest rapper in tha game...PERIOD. Tracks 2 and 13 was my favorites. Go buy this now! Submitted by Ken (Pine Bluff,AR) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
I'll give it a 3.8 really But all the beats sound the same. This cd was good, because he kept it hard not no radio friendly junk. Pat is still one of the best down south. But the thing I noticed about this cd is alot the beats are the same drumming pattern. Djpaul and juicy j could make better beats. The beats are still good though. I think this could of been alot better if they would of use different mixes of beats. This cd still is gansta Submitted by T.. (Down South Ga) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Mediocre Album Project Pat needs to go back to doing longer songs, i.e., 3 verses/16 bars, because this album is seriously lacking depth. Project Pat doesn't swear once on this album which makes it weak. His style used to be hardcore, but his maturity on this album isn't what his fans really want now. The beats are good, but there ain't that many bangers. "I Keep That" is tight, but too short; "Purple" is tight, but would've been better if it had Lil Wyte; "What Money Do" is the best song on the album; "Nigga Got Popped" and "Get That Up Off Ya" had the potential to be classics but once again were too short. $9.89 Recorded between 1952 and 1989. Includes liner notes by Scott Yanow.
Digitally remastered by Joe Tarantino (1998, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
A collection of music from 1952 to 1989, this is far from a greatest-hits compendium, and excludes prime music from the Jazztet, as well as many of Farmer's most famous latter-period pieces from Ph.D and Blame It on My Youth. "Farmer's Market" is here, as is "Wisteria," and you hear his transition from trumpet to flügelhorn to flumpet. More from When Farmer Met Gryce and different selections alongside Clifford Jordan would have made for a more satisfying sampler. ...

Crook By Da Book: The Fed Story CD music
$9.25 While fellow Atlanta pioneers Outkast have received more massive attention, Goodie Mob were just as instrumental in the rise of the Dirty South sound. Since their first record in 1995, the classic SOUL FOOD, the group have been purveyors of witty, linguistically twisted rhymes littered with schizophrenic references cooked up by mad-genius minds, their words then layered over unusual and grimy yet melodic beats. After breaking up for a bit, the unit ...

Crook By Da Book: The Fed Story music CDs
$11.19 The album that broke South Park Mexican out of the South, Power Moves features a number of his best-known songs: "Holla at Cha Later," "Illegal Amigos," and "West Coast, Gulf Coast, East Coast." It's definitely a more polished and crafted work that his preceding Hustle Town and proves that rap artists can thrive without major-label support. In sum, this is arguably the best place to start when investigating SPM. His later albums are often on par with Power Moves in terms of both rhymes and beats, but none capture the essence of what makes this particular artist so alluring to his cult audience as this breakthrough album. Later albums such as 3rd Wish to Rock the World often go out of their way to feature lackluster guest rappers ...
