Something strange is happening when Su-mi and her younger sister, Su-yeon, come home to their fathers large but dark and somewhat foreboding house after a stay in the hospital. Their dad is taciturn and burdened, and their stepmother, Eun-joo, greets them with forced enthusiasm and more than a little sense of irritation. But thats nothing compared to what happens when bedtime rolls around. Stylish and shocking, this visually arresting tale of family secrets and uncertain realities is based on a traditional Korean folktale. Guaranteed to have you gasping for breath with each successive scare. 2 disc set features over 2 hours of bonus footage. Based on a Korean folk tale, A TALE OF TWO SISTERS is a highly acclaimed horror film from director Ji-woon Kim. The film delicately balances a slow, building atmosphere of dread with sudden horrific shocks through stately, handsome cinematography and a suitably spooky musical score. Soo-mi (Su-jeong Lim) and Soo-yeon (Geun-yeong Mun) are sisters, released after a spell in a mental hospital to return to their father's gothic mansion. Once home, they meet their new stepmother (Jung-ah Yum), who they mistrust and suspect of some vague wrongdoing. Around the same time, perhaps uncoincidentally, a series of strange events begin to occur, apparently the work of a poltergeist. Already struggling with the presence of their new stepmother, the ghostly actions threaten to destabilize the girls' fragile mental states. A TALE OF TWO SISTERS joins RINGU and JU-ON in the cycle of films rejuvenating Asian horror. Tale Of Two Sisters Reviews: "Beautifully shot and disturbingly oblique, TALE has twists, turns, and a moody presence more unnerving than any mere ghost..."

Tale Of Two Sisters Video Tale Of Two Sisters Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) IF YOU LIKE TWIST'S,THIS IS THE BEST!!! You know what I've noticed that most american movie's alway's redo the sucky japanese horror movie's.Well I'd like to see them redo this.Anyway's I like this movie way better than Saw the Sixth sense,Stir of echo's you name it.This movie is truly twisted, and has like four different twist's,while everyones bragging about Saw,and the Sixth sense.I'm thinking this movie's way better, and more twisted.Plus it has a better replay value I think, because you'll notice stuff that you didn't the first time you watched it.So yeah I think this movie's very great I also reccommend Returner,Nightmare,Set to kill, and Natural city... Not Bad... A definite thriller- lots of plot twists and turns. You really need to watch the deleted scenes in order to get the entire story. Definitely needs to be watched twice to pick up all the hints as to the plot twists. All in all, a true thriller! Submitted by tad411 (Coatesville, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Tale Of Two Sisters review
$23.15 After PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and ATONEMENT, Keira Knightley continues her reign as the queen of the period film with this 18th-century costume drama. The corset-clad actress stars as Georgiana Spenser, the Duchess of Devonshire. With her marriage to the duke (Ralph Fiennes), Georgiana achieves an impressive level of fame as Britons follow both her clothing style and her political advice. But even celebrity and wealth can't act as a salve in her marriage to the boring, boorish duke. When he begins to flaunt his affairs, Georgiana is tempted to return to a teenage crush, Charles Grey (Dominic Cooper of THE HISTORY BOYS), to the anger of her husband and her mother (Charlotte Rampling, SWIMMING POOL).
Fiennes's portrayal of the duke ranks roughly with his Lord Voldemort on a scale of beastly behavior, but the acclaimed actor manages to give him a level of humanity that far surpasses what he deserves. THE DUCHESS focuses on the lack of power possessed by Georgiana and, in fact, all women of her time, and the duke is the primary agent of her suppression. As she has done with other period films from the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series to KING ARTHUR, Knightley brings spirit ...

$9.89 Bobby and Jonathan have been inseparable since they were teenagers in suburban Ohio. Bobby has suffered many losses for someone so young, and is starved for love and affection. Awkward teen Jonathan has a nice family, and a particularly wonderful mother (Sissy Spacek). The boys not only become as close as brothers, but they also experiment sexually. The two lose touch, but find each other again in their mid-20s in the early 1980s, when Bobby (Colin Farrell) moves to New York and joins Jonathan (Dallas Roberts) at the apartment he shares with Clare (Robin Wright Penn), an aging hippie. Bobby and Clare become lovers, however, Clare had planned to have a child with Jonathan, who is now openly gay and who is still interested in Bobby, and to whom Clare used to be attracted. The trio becomes its own unique entity, questioning the traditional definitions of family and love, and dealing with the complications of their love triangle. Based on the novel of the same name by Michael Cunningham, who also wrote the screenplay and who was the recipient of the Pulitzer prize, this film marks the debut of director Michael Mayer. Erik Smith plays Bobby as a teenager, ...
