For all the kids (or adults) out there who've always wanted to front a Green Day cover band but never found other members, have no fear, your problems have all been solved. Can You Rock? Sing and Play the Songs of Green Day takes five of the group's most famous songs ("American Idiot," "Long View," "Brain Stew," "Basket Case," and "Good Riddance [Time of Your Life]") and presents them in three separate sets. In the first the vocals are removed, the second takes out the guitar (and no, it isn't the real Billie Joe Armstrong singing, sorry), while the third leaves just the bass and the drums, leaving the listener/participant/future karaoke superstar responsible for filling in the rest. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Should it ever be listened to as an album? No. Have thousands of people done the same thing with the actual record, and not this cheesy ripoff? Yes. But does that mean that someone couldn't have some fun trying to play power chords and singing in his most nasally voice? Not at all. ~ Marisa Brown
