My Brothas Keeper album
$15.05 Despite his status as one of hip-hop's most prolific artists, Z-Ro never quite spreads himself too thin. The provocatively titled COCAINE is his second release from 2009, and features his trademark self-aware, yet rapier-sharp lyrics over some of the hotter beats out of the fertile Houston scene. The Intro skilfully sets out the landscape as the dark-vocaled MC reflects upon his choice of a life of street dealing without a shred of remorse, while stressing his decision was not exactly the wise one. From there, Z-Ro, an ...

My Brothas Keeper songs
$10.45 It's hard to believe, given his gargantuan impact on popular culture, that Eminem had only released four full-length albums by 2004. That year's ENCORE showed the rapper's artistic vitality fading just a bit, but 2005's CURTAIN CALL, an overdue greatest-hits collection, helps remind audiences that Eminem produced a stunning string of singles in a short span of time. Naturally, CURTAIN CALL eschews the artist's most controversial material ("'97 Bonnie and Clyde," for example, from THE SLIM SHADY LP), focusing instead on his highest charters, like 8 MILE's "Lose Yourself" and introspective confessionals like "Cleanin' Out My Closet" (a rant against his mother) and "Mockingbird" (a tribute to his daughter).
But even at ...
| | Snoop Dogg Malice N Wonderland CD (2009)
My Brothas Keeper album
$12.54 On his tenth album (and first as the chairman of Priority Records), Snoop Dogg continues to prove he's not a relic of the G-funk era, proving that while the music may change, good flow never goes out of style. Right out of the gate, Snoop drops a song for the West Coast Jerkin' set with "I Wanna Rock" before switching gears back to classic Snoop with the Dre-inspired "2 Minute Warning," where the rapper lets everyone know he's still the same Snoop Dogg after all these years as he proclaims, "Ponytail still swingin', hair still braided/Laker to a Clipper I won't be faded." With production by Lil Jon, Timbaland, Danjahandz, Battlecat, and the Neptunes (just to name a handful), it's no wonder the album sounds like not only a retrospective of every stage of his career, but of the trends in rap music as a whole. With the album touching on his G-funk beginnings with "Secrets," crunk on the Lil Jon-produced "1800," the Dirty South on the Soulja Boy collaboration "Pronto," and his time on the Neptunes-fronted Star Trak on "Special" (featuring guest spots ...

My Brothas Keeper music CDs
$16.45 "Nice imagery, nice textures, nice sounds, nice music." - AfterTouch Magazine, Vol. 6"Midnight Man" represents a mix of moods and soundscapes. Some of the selections on this disk were composed as a result of dreams - an attempt to capture in music specific dreams that have tended to stay with me for years. So . . . what kind of music is this?Whenever I'm asked to describe my music, my mind goes completely blank and the best I can come up with, in most cases, is, "my own unique style". I don't think there is a genre for what I do. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe not. I'll leave it up to the listener to "pigeon hole" my stuff because I just don't feel comfortable doing it. I can't call it "ambient" because I include a lot of dynamics in my music, exploring emotional states. Can't call it "New Age" because, frankly, I hate that designation (I don't think it's ever done anyone any favors to be tagged with that label). However, pressed as I am in this intro to come up with something to help prospective buyers decide if they might like it, I guess the category "virtual orchestra" at least describes in a broad way what to expect. I've always loved the Classics and though my compositions do not attempt to emulate the genre I think it is obvious that the Classics have influenced me. I also happen to like some of the so-called "new age" composers, particularly the ones who create lively and dramatic music.___George ...
