Boogie Down Sound songs CAFE BEIRUT, a set that brings together Lebanese musical artists from the 1960s and '70s, is a fascinating musical history lesson. Wadih Al Safi, Fairouz, and Saba are included here, among others.
This is another excellent collection from the vaults of EMI Arabia, this time covering the Golden Age of Lebanese pop. Café Beirut features passionate Arabic singers (both male and female) backed by traditional ensembles rich with strings and percussion. Excellent stuff. ~ Sean Westergaard

Khalil Saadiq Paradigm Shift CD (2009)
Boogie Down Sound buy CD music Khalil SaadiqPoet, Community Activist, Natural Foods Chef Simply put, Khalil is on a mission. On a mission to unsettle that part of you that has grown complacent with the lower levels of your nature. Khalil's performances are explosive, humorous, educating, informative and at times abrasive-with the intent to liberate minds-in hopes that their physical body follows. Khalil's words agitate the listener into taking a serious look at themselves (Especially the dumb sh*t that we do, myself included.
) and that which keeps them grounded, thus forcing them to choose-Life or Death.
Paradigm Shift, Khalil's latest effort, is a balanced mixture of spoken word poetry and hip hop that takes you on a journey inside of yourself. Production by Amond Jackson and guest appearances by Lashaun "Omoragita" Tribble and Back Talk Poetry Troupe members- The Ancient Newcomer and Trooth.
Khalil is a founding member of The Sol Griots Artist Collective and a member of Back Talk Poetry Troupe (Tallahassee)
