I was born and raised in Southern California, in the era when singing cowboys ruled the airwaves and TV screen. Tex Ritter was my favorite. I was one of those kids who fell in love with those singing cowboys. I begged my Dad for a horse and a guitar, and he surprised me with both. The guitar came with a book of chords and I taught myself how to play. Within a few months, I had written my first song, which was about my horse, Jubilee. The song had about six verses and two chords. From there, I met a few friends who also played guitar and sang. So we played at school functions. When I was a little older, we moved on to local coffeehouse. In my early 20s, I married another aspiringsinger/songwriter, and sat in as vocalist in his band occassionally. Shortly after that, I had my first child, and my husband's career skyrocketed. I put my guitar and songwriting aside for a while to focus on my family. After the breakup of my 23-year marriage, I dusted off my guitar and took solace in songwriting. I naturally turned back to the music I had loved as a child. In 2000, I met the extraordinary cowboy poet Paul Zarzyski at the Monterey Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival. We quickly became friends and started writing songs together a couple years later. Heavens To Betsy was recorded in Burlesom, Texas and produced by renown, award-winning producer Rich O'Brien. Having Rich make such beautiful works of art out of my songs was one of the best experiences of my life. | | Mark Dwane Monuments Of Mars CD (1998)
Heavens To Betsy music CDs
$24.05 This is a strong electronic release, inspired by the geographic anomolies on the surface of Mars that look like ruined cities, and it evokes an atmosphere of cosmology and alien grandeur in its dense waves and powerful rhythm currents. This entire album is played on MIDI guitar, which sounds like a regular keyboard synthesizer, while the music ranges from sensuous to super-sonic space pieces with several dynamic tracks, notably "Pyramids of Mars." ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats
"Mark Dwane has established himself as one of the hottest and most prolific artists currently in the electronic-space music genre. On The Monuments Of Mars, Dwane takes the listener on a tour of Mars and introduces them to its cities, monuments, architecture and a highly advanced civilization. Dwane's approach to synthesizers is very different from others in that almost every sample and keyboard voice you hear is played or triggered by a MIDI guitar. This approach makes Dwane's music more expressive than most artists. The Monuments Of Mars is a breathtaking CD, full of powerful melodies, soaring anthemic themes, melodic rhythms and an overall fresh approach to electronic music composition." -- Houston WEST-----"The cosmic appeal of this 1988 release is instantly obvious. Tonalities soar unhampered by atmospheric friction, harmonious riffs swell and unravel like sparkling lights in an always-dark sky. The presence of soft e-perc lends rhythm without earthiness to the pleasant tuneage, injecting lazy but compelling tempos to the electronic melodies. Mars is the focus of the instrumental music on this 39-minute CD, grounding the space music to closely examine the foreign ...

She spent the rest of her life within 25 miles of her port of entry, passing on in 1970 at the age of 92.Before the end of the 19th century she had given birth to two daughters and had been widowed, losing her first husband, John Sweeny in a coal mining accident. She raised her girls by running a boarding house owned by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Sparrows Point MD.By the time I was born in 1947 she'd been widowed a second time and shared her home with her eldest daughter Marie Sweeney Kelley, ...
