$16.39 NEW YORK CITY - Combining the sincere melodrama of Rufus Wainwright, the lyrical playfulness of The Magnetic Fields and the country twang of Johnny Cash, The Ratzlow debuts with 12 eclectic tracks that fuse genres to create what he calls, "cowboy-pop/rock-cabaret." Whatever one calls it, Silly Love Songs is an audacious new album that introduces a fresh musical voice both wry and heartfelt. The Ratzlow is New York City renaissance man Dave Ratzlow, who recorded his debut over the course of more than a year in home studios and bedrooms throughout the tri-state area. Using the latest portable digital recorders and accompanied by an impressive cross-section of NYC's indie scene, The Ratzlow has crafted an ambitious audio diary full of lust and longing, joy and heartbreak. The deceptively simple songs express a passionate melancholy tempered by a cheeky wit that's the inevitable product of the modern dating roller coaster. In "I Hope That's Okay", The Ratzlow calls for a truce with his combative lover singing, "if love is war... conquer me." In "Buzz Me In" he plays a misbehaving lover pleading for a second chance. And in his all-time favorite song, "Perfume", he struggles to love a woman who wears too much perfume. Silly Love Songs also features a Frank Sinatra cover ("Fly Me To Moon") transformed by Mr. Ratzlow into a rousing finale.Musical contributions by Kenny Siegal and Gwen Snyder (Johnny Society), Don Dilego, Bryan Miller, Scott Rosenthal (Elizabeth Harper's band), and ukulele sensations The Hazzards help create a lush and diverse pop landscape.Silly Love Songs is available through ladidarecords.com, amazon.com, cdbaby.com, and independent records stores throughout the United States. $16.45 WG is Detroit's best kept secret, but that's getting ready to change. He's been working as a staff producer with Web Entertainment, a new record label/production company started by Jeff and Mark Bass, the Oscar and Grammy winning duo behind Eminem and his hit 'Lose Yourself'. WG has worked on projects for Madonna, Garbage, Dr. Fink, Pitchshifter, Bob James and Dr. Fink from Prince's band.Currently Wayne is writing and producing on Web Entertainment's flagship release CDs, the first being a blistering rapper called King Gordy and a hip hop/jazz group called '8 Mile Style'; working w/ Bob James as well as writing and producing for many rap and electronic acts worldwide. Wayne has also formed a media prduction company called Hedrock (http://www.hedrock.com) which will focus on music for new media (cd-roms, dvds, film and broadcast, web and kiosk application) and traditional composing, arranging and production.History-An artist from the breeding grounds of Hip Hop and Techno, Wayne has had varied success while flying under the radar. His style is a collage of Hip Hop, 70's funk, breakbeat, and rock. It's been described as 'a cross between Prince, Dr. Dre, MJ Cole and 'every David Fincher movie you've ever seen!'. The producer/remixer/composer made his name as a hired gun guitarist playing for artists as varied as Bob James, Patti Smith, David Sanborn and Wayne Kramer. His intriguing mixture of styles would serve him well, as he would later find out, although at first he had a hard time. "I went to Wayne State University for jazz studies but I grew up listening to Prince, Kraftwerk, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Miles so I was labeled as 'too eclectic'. But my gift is being able to draw on many influences to make a cohesive whole. I may have been ahead of my time!" The faculty must've have seen something in Wayne because he was awarded the prestigious Liberace Scholarship for composition. "I think because I was playing professionally and attending classes, I was their poster boy. I made a good showing." In 1996, he got tired of the road and started doing computer programming. "I was part of the web in it's heyday. I loved the web, but I always knew the computer and music would play a role somehow". And as fate would have it, an assignment came through where the client wanted custom-tailored music for an interactive presentation. "I volunteered and all of a sudden word spread. I started composing and recording for clients such as Ford, Chrysler, the Weather Channel, Pulte, Michigan State Lottery and The Detroit Tigers". Wayne eventually got the "artist itch" once again and recorded a CD's worth of contemporary urban jazz. He couldn't get a deal and found he had no outlet. "I was out of the music biz loop for a few years so most of my contacts had dried up and moved on. I was an unknown and no one wanted to take a chance". He stumbled ...

$16.45 *LAURA CHEADLE- 'LIVE ON' CD REVIEWS:*LAURA CHEADLE - LIVE ONGetting off to a rousing start with the lively and exciting “Constantly,” this album offers one delightfully snappy, thrilling and spot-on pop-rock song after another. Laura Cheadle’s wonderfully warm, husky and robust full-throated voice belts out the thoughtful lyrics with infectiously hearty aplomb. The arrangements are crisp and tuneful, with the steady drums, equally sturdy basslines, and buzzing guitars keeping the music rich, catchy, funky, and flavorsome throughout. The songs neatly alternate between touching and subdued introspection (the moving “Answer Within Me,” the neatly bumping “In the AM”) and more energetic rock-outs (the smooth-grooving blast “Funk is Dead,” the punchy raver “Whatever Moves You”) with always pleasing and often uplifting results. A very cool and worthwhile album."-*Review By: Joe Wawryzniak: JERSEYBEAT.COM*LAURA CHEADLE- LIVE ONPitman, New Jersey seems like an odd place for a funk, soul, and jazz revivalist to be born. This just happens to be the case for the extremely beautiful and equally talented Laura Cheadle. Her latest album “Live On” has been a two-year labour of love. Produced by and recorded at her Father’s (James Cheadle) studio “Live On” also enlists the help of her brothers Jimmy Lee and Nick as well as many other talented musicians. Laura feels like she’s grown a lot while she was making this album and drew on many experiences, and took time to reflect on life.In an interview I had with her she said : “Constantly” is about being with someone who can not make up their mind about you and keeps you stringing along. I got so fed up with it and wrote that song. I’m actually really happy it happened though because I feel like “Constantly” turned out to be a great song about craving passion.” Almost all the songs on the album deal with some sort of personal subject matter. My favorite track off the album is the title track. The song is a true life Earworm. Its lyrics really speak to any generation and will have you singing “Life is crazy, live on, live on.”-*Review By: Shawn Alexander Roy: SKOPE MAGAZINE*LAURA CHEADLE - LIVE ONLaura Cheadle makes singing seem easy. ...
