The inspiration for the name Seeds.... comes from a wish that through this music the listener will become sensitized to the world in which we live. It is a call to honor God's creation, the Earth. | | Valarie King Only Time Will Tell CD (2006)
Justice For The Earth songs
$16.45 Valarie King has a pretty sound on flute and she is a soothing singer. Throughout Only Time Will Tell, she mostly features herself on lightly grooving pieces, sticking near the melody much of the time on flute and occasionally singing light funky singalong melodies. Sometimes the arrangements, particularly on the selections that utilize Mark Cargill's Tri-Ambient Orchestra (which is mostly comprised of strings), are reminiscent of a Hubert Laws recording from his CTI days in the early '70s and, in fact, Laws guests on "La Costa." There are spots (such as on "Long Shadows on the Afternoon") where King hints that she is capable of stretching out and improvising more creatively, but most of Only Time Will Tell features ...

| | Christopher Hopkins I'll Be Seeing You CD (1998)
Justice For The Earth CD music
$18.99 These days it is probably politically incorrect to praise an album like Christopher Hopkins' inaugural effort, I'll Be Seeing You. It recalls those days of the '50s and '60s when singers like Vic Damone, Eddie Fischer, Jerry Vale, and others made album after album featuring the top songs of the day mixed with traditional pop and standards. While Hopkins thankfully has stayed away from contemporary pop, he has adopted much of the format of singers of those times varying the pace of the music throughout to mix up the tempo. There's romantic music at its most amorous with heavy string accompaniment along with some very mellow sax by first-rate reed men Mark Henderson and Dave Karr. On "In the Still of the Night," Hopkins creates a borderline erotic mood like Nat "King" Cole did on "Paradise." "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" has just Adi Yeshaya's soft piano helping Hopkins create a cabaret-type ambience. Hopkins' vocal versatility is captured on an up-tempo version of "Where or When" as he sings with the rhythm section and Dave Karr's swinging flute. There's a flirtation with funk on "I Only Have Eyes for You" as Yeshaya's organ and Dave Graf's trombone get close to becoming down and dirty. More important this tune as much as any spotlights Hopkins special way with the lyrics, his loyalty to melody, and his ability to put new life into a well-worn standard. The excellence of the musicians on this album is further demonstrated by David Singley's guitar on "My Foolish Heart."
This is an album that can serve several purposes, as a backdrop for a romantic evening, to do some slow dancing, or just for an hour of enjoyable listening. Well thought out and imaginative orchestrations played by first-rank musicians working with a singer with a strong voice who knows how to deliver a song makes this album easy to recommend. ~ Dave Nathan
With his smooth and seductive voice complemented by world class Jazz Musicians, Christopher Hopkins has released "I'll Be Seeing You", a 15 track collection of Jazz favorites with fantastic new arrangements.Refreshingly understated, Christopher spans over two and a half heartfelt octaves of pure listening pleasure. With his dynamic stage ...

| | Qat Iceland CD (2007)
Justice For The Earth album
$12.69 So, we've been told the name comes from a movie or something...?That's right: the QATSI trilogy. It is pronounced "Kaht-See". There's no "U" in there. It's a Hopi Indian word that means "way of life".I see. And what's the QATSI "way of life"?We started out just wanting to write honest rock songs. We didn't care if we sounded like somebody else - we figured if we were honest, it would show. But we were definitely influenced by several record: Plastic Ono Band, Electric Warrior by T-Rex, and Soundtracks by Can...I suppose this way of life took seven days to create?Actually, it took nine days (laughs). Our friends from Elk City (Warm) and The National (Brassland) asked us to play a show with them last year at Southpaw (in Brooklyn, NY) nine days before the show was going to happen. We weren't expecting a show but we put some things together - I think like two of those songs are still in the set (all laugh). But things have been great the past year. We've gotten to play some great shows with some great bands - The Holy Ghost, Grand Mal, Read Yellow...that show in particular...So, you've just been sloshing around in the New York scene for a year or so?Well, Dave and Jude were in a more experimental thing called Knocked Out Loaded. Two records in four years. Dave was in Small 23 (Alias) back in Chapel ...
