| | Suttle In A Slinkystyle CD Suttle Discography of CDs
SUTTLE, the Kingston, NY duo comprised of Tim Sutton and Mike Tuttle, is releasing their long-awaited EP, In a SlinkyStyle. SUTTLE combines electronic, hip-hop, rock and freestyle into a hybrid party mix that swings from abstract wittiness to political insight to introspective catharsis. The hi-fidelity production (Tuttle is a professional engineer and radio producer) synthesizes soundscapes with beats to create twangy hooks that stick in your head like licorice between your teeth. If you like Gorillaz, Beck, Ween or Massive Attack, you'll appreciate In a SlinkyStyle. The band was born many years ago while Sutton and Tuttle were working at WDST in Woodstock NY. They teamed up to produce audio and video for many local area events, including A Day in the Garden and Woodstock '99, where they were especially inspired by The Roots and Rage Against the Machine. High above Hunter Mountain on a ski lift, they envisioned doing music that would inspire them like many of the bands they had been recording. With no roadmap for the sound they were after, they let the recording process evolve organically, switching off on a variety of instruments--they both play bass, guitar and keys, as well as program. The album came together over years of late-night hangout sessions at Tuttle's SoundLabs studio in the Shirt Factory warehouse in midtown Kingston. Without the usual pressures of studio clocks ticking and hiring an engineer and producer, the pair were free to spend as much time as they wanted to on creating their vision, while having fun. That vibe comes through on the tunes. While finalizing songs for the EP, the duo collaborated on music for several independent films and a rock musical.TIM SUTTON is a veteran of the Hudson Valley music scene and has toured across the country landing in the oddest places, from winning the talent contest at a Phish show to opening for The Ramones to singing back up vocals for pete Seeger. His past and current groups include Lost in the Sauce, Wooden Rope and RatBoy. He has also worked extenisively with kids in the community teaching video production.MIKE TUTTLE has been a music producer and sound designer for radio and corporate clients since 1995. He is an award-winning remixer and producer of nationally-syndicated radio imaging heard nationwide. Mike has also engineered and co-produced albums for Ratboy and Punk Blues Review. His studio, Tuttle SoundLabs, is a renovated loft space located in Kingston, NY. | | Very Best Of The Spinners CD (1993)
In A Slinkystyle
$8.19 The Spinners were rivaled only by the O'Jays as the greatest Philly soul group, and for that matter the greatest vocal group of the '70s. For listeners who don't want to dig as deeply as the excellent double-CD anthology One of a Kind Love Affair, Rhino's The Very Best of the Spinners is a stellar single-disc career summary that offers a concentrated dose of the group's sweet soul magic. It also serves as a primer on the best work of Thom Bell, Philly soul's "other" great producer besides the legendary Gamble & Huff team. Incredibly, every one of the 16 tracks here -- culled from 1970-1980 -- reached the R&B Top Ten, and half went all the way to number one on either the pop or R&B lists. As this collection demonstrates, the Spinners' massive popularity was well-deserved. Built around the magnetic leads of Philippe Wynne, their records were tastefully, elegantly romantic, full of adult heartache and longings as complex as the group's shifting harmonies. The compilers also license the pre-Wynne Motown hit "It's a Shame," co-written by Stevie Wonder, and include ...

| | Notorious B I G Life After Death CDs (1997)
In A Slinkystyle
$18.65 LIFE AFTER DEATH was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "Hypnotize" was nominated for a 1988 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. "Mo Money Mo Problems" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
The double-CD LIFE AFTER DEATH arrives in stores, ironically and tragically, less than three weeks after the Notorious B.I.G. was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. Biggie Smalls, as he was known, quickly became one of rap's most respected MCs after the 1994 release of his debut album, READY TO DIE. His music sparked the comeback of East Coast hip-hop, while his very being added fire to rap's over-publicized East-West rivalry. For some (see "Playa Hater"), Biggie's success was too much to handle, and he became a primary target in hip-hop's continuing feud. Never feeding into that war on wax, B.I.G. chose to remain silent, until LIFE AFTER DEATH became a reality, and the situation spoke for itself.
Although song titles like "You're Nobody ...
