| | Elie Massias Brooklyn Days CD Elie Massias Discography of CDs
Singer, Guitarist, multi-instrumentalist Elie Massias is based in New York City and has performed extensively in Europe, North America, and Israel. Elie won top 15 of the U.S. North East at the 2006 'Independent Music Worldseries' and will be featured on discmakers 'North East Heavy Hitters" compilation CD. John Anders of DownBeat Magazine writes "Elie's guitar textures and effects recall stylists as diverse as Bill Frisell, John Abercrombie and Bern Nix." Stuart Broomer of Cadence Magazine writes: "Massias has a command of the guitar that extends from the fingerboard to the amplifier, from the lightest acoustic play to R&B." Pat Arena of New Yorks Vice Magazine writes: "Elie Massias creates music that is at once exotic and very cosmopolitan. It gently pulses with the rhythms of the Middle East, the harmonies of Brazil and Beatles-like melodies. His voice warms and seduces with its sweet timbre. Lyrically, Elie creates poetic portraits of landscapes both imaginary and earthly. World in Fiction is a bright and beautiful work from a unique artist. " On his first CD, World in Fiction , Elie's diverse influences and unique background become evident. "Even though I am known as a Jazz Guitarist, my first love was singing and playing in the singer/songwriter tradition, and because of my love and dedication to Jazz and improvised music my songs often transcend stylistic boundaries." In 1994 Elie left Boston and moved to New York. "It was a move I needed to make. New York has so much to offer, I feel I've really found myself here as a musician." $12.69 Having a starting lineup of Alex Windisch, Max Monks, Chris Ertel, and BJ Schweinlin, Mind Soup began in Cincinnati OH as a 4 piece band with psycadelic roots. After a few months of writing and a general disdain with the material, it was discovered that every band member was into electronic music on the side. On a whim they assembled in Chris Ertel's 208 State studio to write some electronic music merely to see what would happen. The musical satisfaction they were striving for suddenly came into being and the current sonic incarnation of Mind Soup was born.Early on, Alex Windisch left the band to pursue a slightly different musical path forming the side project 'Frameshift Experiment' with Chris Ertel. During work on their first album 'The Rules of Nothing', ...
| | Ralph Napolitano Misty Rain CD (2003)
Brooklyn Days songs
$5.49 This album represents a very listenable collection of some popular standards and some lesser heard ones.Making an album like this has been a dream for a long time. Like many musicians, music touched my heart and soul at an early age. I started on percussion instruments and began singing soon after. I worked as a musician in my college years (majoring in Behavioral Psychology and minoring in Music) and after, at many Clubs in the Chicagoland area and in particular, the Manheim Road strip in its heyday. The Songs:Let Me Love you not heard often, was written by Bart Howard known for Fly Me To The Moon and one of my favorites. Sometimes I'm Happy is a bouncy tune written by VinceYoumens also better known for Tea For Two. You Are The Sunshine Of My Life is a Stevie Wonder tune done in a big band style that really swings. Isn't It Romantic, The More I See You, Once In A While and Oh! Look At Me Now swing in the style of Johnny Hartman. Baubles, Bangles And Beads is done in a Bossa style as is the beautifully sad, How Insensitive. Time After Time and Laura, two of my favorite ballads are performed at a little faster tempo than usual. Misty Rain is a beautifully haunting ballad that was written by my friend, Roger Pauly who I have known since my teenage years. Roger is one of the finest Multi-talented musicians I have worked with. We had some great times together ...
