It Takes Two: Best Loved Due album
$8.69 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
The Dire Straits' mastermind's first non-soundtrack solo album is a refreshingly diverse outing. Mellower overall than his previous fare, there's still plenty of stunning guitar work and solid songcrafting to be had here. The songs cover a lot of stylistic bases, from rock to folk, Celtic, blues and somber balladeering. The disc is full, yet its diversity never becomes superfluous. A well-planned and pleasing slice of craftsmanship from one of rock's reigning originals.
Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee; London, England; Dublin, Ireland.

| | Karunesh Nirvana Cafe CD (2002)
It Takes Two: Best Loved Due album
$13.45 Karunesh's second album is a pleasant mix of easy-listening pop and smooth jazz. If from that description you suspect this album of synthesizer ballads is laid-back, you'd be right, but there is enough melodic intrigue to keep things interesting. "Dazzled by the Light" is a smooth cha-cha featuring Real Music label-mate Govi on lead guitar. (He also shows up on the jazzy "Blessings Rain," ...
| | Windham Hill Christmas CD (2002)
It Takes Two: Best Loved Due CD music
$6.09 While they may not be everyone's cup of herbal tea, the pioneering New Age label Windham Hill could never be accused of being anything less than tasteful. Accordingly, A WINDHAM HILL CHRISTMAS is far from the crass, mass-market commerciality of so many hastily assembled pop-crossover holiday collections. For this outing, Windham Hill gathered together some of their finest artists to create an all-instrumental album featuring re-interpretations of traditional Christmas Carols. So if you think you've heard say, "Deck the Halls" before, ...
| | Edith Piaf Les Trois Cloches CD (2000)
It Takes Two: Best Loved Due music CDs
$20.95 LES TROIS CLOCHES is a superb collection that presents the legendary Edith Piaf in classic form. While many American collections include "clean" versions of Piaf's material, this 21-song compilation, which encompasses recordings she made across the 1930s, '40s, and '50s, features her unflinching accounts of rough-and-tumble street life and bad love. Piaf was as well known for her life's lusts and hardships as she was for her distinctive singing, and this set delivers on both counts.
With her heavy vibrato, pure tone, and emotionally intense, dramatic delivery, Piaf became one of the foremost representatives of French pop music, and she went on to influence nearly every French singer ...
| | Kim Robertson Angels In Disguise CDs (1990)
It Takes Two: Best Loved Due songs
$11.99 Angels in Disguise marks Kim Robertson's debut as a singer, with her vocals gracing seven of the album's 15 tunes. Her ethereal yet poignant voice blends in nicely with her Celtic harp on this collection that mixes traditional Scottish and Irish pieces, as well as one Japanese tune, with original compositions. Two of her own songs are sung in French in addition to her haunting rendition of the lovely Scottish ballad "Wild Mountain Thyme" and the original title track with its plea for spiritual understanding ("It's time to open my eyes/Time to realize/We are all angels in disguise"). Dulcimer, tasteful electric guitar and percussion add spice to the arrangements but special kudos go to Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser, one of the most senistive and skilled musicians playing in this genre. Appearing on seven of the tunes, he ...
