| | Kenneth Little Hawk Great Mystery: Native American Flute Music For Med CD (2002)
Spelling Songs album
$18.99 The Great Mystery "The Gods are singing! You connect me to the soul of the earth when I listen to your music." Dana Alexander, Holistic Health Educator, Vibrational Energy Healer, Clairvoyant, Psychic. "I am mesmerized by the musical qualities of Kenneth Little Hawk's artistry. It is a gift from The Spirits to listen to his amazing gifts!" E. Barrie Kavasch (American/Southern Cherokee/Creek/Powhatan), author, illustrator, ethnobotanist, ethnomycologist, master herbalist, food historian. Native American flute music for meditation and prayers of peace. Dedicated to the Peacemakers. Little Hawk's Prayer: "Oh Great Spirit, Come Live In My Heart. Give love and contentment to the children. Give health and long life to our elders so they may remain with us for a long time. And to all life give peace and love. As long as the sun shines and the water falls, may you always be happy." Musical Instruments: Native American flutes, pan pipes, hand drums, rain stick, deer toe rattles, antique African stringed instrument, percussive (bamboo tubes, clay jug, glass bowl, Native American clay vase), conch shell. KENNETH LITTLE HAWK Native American Heritage: Micmac (Mi'kmaq), Mohawk Professional Memberships: Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity Little Hawk's great-grandmother, a Mi'kmaq, traveled from Nova Scotia across the Canadian border carrying his grandmother on a cradleboard on her back. She journeyed through the upper Mohawk Valley into upstate New York and settled in the Catskills. There, Little Hawk's grandmother married his grandfather, who was Mohawk and Cree. Little Hawk was raised by his traditional grandparents. In his family, it was part of his culture for the oldest to look after the youngest. He was taught he was a reflection of his elders, so his behavior with the young ones was critical. Little Hawk believes that since all humans live together on this planet, we need to honor, cherish, and preserve our home. He teaches all must work together to mend the global hoop that encompasses all two-leggeds, four-leggeds, winged ones, and plant life. He also teaches respect for differences as well as appreciation for the "common thread that binds us." When he performs, Little Hawk says, "The most important message is that we can make choices to live in harmony with one another and we can make choices to live in harmony with the environment." PROFESSIONAL SKILLS STORYTELLER: Little Hawk shares his culture, traditions, and musical instruments in a storytelling ...
| | Scarlet Rivera CD (1977)
Spelling Songs CD music
$12.29 With all respect to the likes of David LaFlamme, Papa John Creach. David Cross, and Jean-Luc Ponty, it is arguably Scarlet Rivera (violin) who has consistently found specific and viable places for the violin in rock. While best known for her stint with Bob Dylan circa his Desire (1975) album, Rivera would go on to accompany a literal who's who of popular music ranging from New York Doll David Johansen to the Indigo Girls and blues revivalist Keb' Mo'. She also issued two solo long players in the mid-'70s, commencing with this eponymously titled platter. Scarlet Rivera (1977) reflects the artist's classical training as well an obvious love of jazz and even the genesis of the world music scene, although the genre would not develop the moniker for several decades yet. Backing Rivera are future Joe Jackson Band percussionist Gary Burke (drums/vibes) and former Mama Lion member Ed Mikenas (bass). There are also a pair of lesser-established -- but no less crafty -- musicians in the form of Dominic Cardinale (keyboards) ...
| | Kidz Bop Kids Kidz Bop Gold CD (2004)
Spelling Songs music CDs
$11.99 Not content to stick with covering current rock and pop, Kidz Bop returns with Kidz Bop Gold, a collection of classic '60s and '70s singles "sung by kids for kids" -- although that really means that the kids are singing backup for people who sound like the original performers. The quality of the songs on Kidz Bop Gold is better than on the regular Kidz Bop collections, but that just makes this album even less necessary than the rest of the series; the original versions of songs like "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," "Yellow Submarine," and "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feeling Groovy)" are already kid-friendly singalong songs. To be fair though, many of the remakes are decent; ...
| | Bolt Thrower ...For Victory CDs (1995) Bonus CD
Spelling Songs songs
$14.29 On For Victory, Bolt Thrower settled nicely into the slower grindcore dynamic established on The IVth Crusade. The last recording to include drummer Andy Whale, this fifth full-length from the English metal outfit could have signified the end of an era, but Bolt Thrower continued into the 21st century, treading through the same war-torn sonic landscape. The musical growth of guitarists Barry Thompson and Gavin Ward deserves mention, as the twin axe handlers concoct some of their best riffs and tightest performances on For Victory. Highlights ...
