Arts And Crafts music CDs
$6.29 Madonna released EROTICA around the same time she released her SEX book, and that's exactly what it sounds like. The title song has a sensuously static groove over which she commands, "Put your hands all over my body." "Where Life Begins" demands that you do something a whole lot more intimate (and quite unrepeatable here) to her. The ...

Arts And Crafts album
$20.49 CD reissue of the 1969 double-LP with two bonus remakes of Jimmie Rodgers songs.
Scholars and fans acknowledge two early recording acts as the progenitors of modern country music: the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers. The Carters established country's roots in old-time folk songs, sentimental ballads and rough, heartfelt harmony singing. Rodgers, the more influential of the two, merged African-American country blues with Anglo-Saxon melodicism and original, personal songwriting. Prior to the '60s, few artists lacked the influence of one or both of these acts. Rodgers was the avowed hero of Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, George Jones, and Lefty Frizzell, to name just a few of his famous devotees. Frizzell, in fact, recorded the album ...
| | Seeds Future/A Full Spoon CD (2001) (Import) United Kingdom
Arts And Crafts CD music
$15.89 The Seeds' 1967 Future LP coupled with another release from that same year, the Sky Saxon Blues Band's "solo" disc A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues, is exciting for collectors as it helps bring the prototype punk group's catalog together under one roof, though these two albums are worlds apart. Future was not only an effort to be totally psychedelic, it explored that world with a vengeance, while A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues is Sky Saxon (aka Richard Marsh) tempting fate by venturing into sacred ground where icons like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf reign supreme. The punk-pop delicacies are fun while the blues experiment didn't work. The musical vision ...
| | Presidents Of The United States Freaked Out And Small CD (2000) Remastered
Arts And Crafts music CDs
$11.49 The Presidents Of The United States Of America: Chris Ballew (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass); Dave Dederer (vocals, guitar, bass); Jason Finn (vocals, drums).
As the Presidents of the United States of America were turning out novelty hits in the mid-'90s, it was easy to take them for granted, ignore them, or even hate them, depending on your disposition. First of all, they were stuck in the midst of a flood of post-grunge guitar bands that turned on the fuzz boxes, bashed out a few chords, and occasionally hit a hook or two. POTUSA weren't all that musically dissimilar from those punk-popsters and sludge rockers, except for their knack for ingratiatingly catchy hooks and a relentlessly irreverent sense of humor. That humor could come off as silly or smug, especially when placed in the context of the age of uber-irony. Once that age died in the late '90s, so did the Presidents and the band disappeared, only to surface again with Freaked Out and Small on a small indie label in the fall of 2000. Apart from the times, not much has changed with the Presidents, who still make catchy, punky pop tunes, but dammit if they don't sound better than they ever did. Maybe it's because the album stands in direct contrast with the teen pop and rap-rock that dominate the mainstream rock audience, or maybe it's because their jokes are now clever and silly, the production is varied, the songs are breezy, melodic, and catchy. Or maybe it's just because in this stripped-back production, the band never sounds self-conscious. They just sound like they're having fun, and that fun is contagious -- something that wasn't always true with their first two albums. Maybe the Presidents are just blessed with fortunate timing, releasing this album in a year nearly devoid of fun, hooks, and silliness, or maybe they really have gotten better. Either way, Freaked Out and Small feels like the best record they've ever done. Chances are, it's the one that the least amount of people will hear, but anyone that seeks it out will be surprised by how much fun it is. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

| | Best Of Roberta Flack CD (2006)
Arts And Crafts songs
$11.29 It's quite easy to place Roberta Flack near the top of the pile of singer/songwriters who changed the course of pop music, not only soul music, during the '70s. She was fortunate enough to deliver the velvet-smooth ballad "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" to an unsuspecting public, and followed it up with an onslaught of ballads that would keep her on the charts for the remainder of the decade. From start to finish, this greatest-hits compilation is the most comprehensive look at her finest moments available on record. From her legendary string of duets with Donny Hathaway to her duets with Peabo Bryson and Maxi Priest that kept her at the top of the charts through the '80s, they're all here. But it's not just the duets that made Flack such an outstanding performer, as her solo works also rate high in quality. Free of the filler and goofy remixes that can make other greatest-hits collections seem diluted, this is easily the best retrospective of her work available to date. ~ Rob Theakston
Digitally remastered anthology of the elegant and legendary vocal superstar. Roberta Flack's unmistakable delivery wraps a timeless R&B sound with beautiful flourishes of jazz, pop and soul. The former DC schoolteacher first climbed to the top of the ...
