As Pink Floyd and Dire Straits have proved, one album can go completely sales haywire without necessarily being any better. The title track and ...
| | Journey Greatest Hits CD (1988) Bonus Track; Remastered; Digipak
He Hears Me
$9.29 This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
Along with Styx and REO Speedwagon, Journey ruled the charts and radio airwaves in the early '80s. And like the aforementioned bands, Journey began in the '70s, so obviously the compilers of its 1988 GREATEST HITS release had a lot of material to choose from.
Journey's sound was a merger of hard rock, compliments of guitarist Neal Schon, and the melodic pop/ballads of singer Steve Perry. This resulted in such classic rock radio staples as "Any Way You Want It," "Separate Ways," "Open Arms," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Wheel in the Sky," and "Who's Crying Now," all included here.
Greatest Hits is an excellent, thorough 14-track collection containing all of Journey's big hits, from 1978's "Wheel in the Sky" to 1986's "I'll Be Alright Without You." Although the songs aren't presented ...
| | Snagglepuss Parading About In The Altogether CD (2005)
He Hears Me
$10.15 New wave party rockers Snagglepuss, returned in 2003 with their second CD, "Parading About in the Altogether". Once again the ever fab Don Dixon was at the helm of the luxurious Country Club Studios, recording and producing a rockin' disc that's not without a few spacy jazz moments. Wookies and T-Birds Unite! Queen City, USA...Baby! SNAGGLEPUSS HISTORYHope Nichols and Aaron Pitkin have musical credentials that go back to the dawn of the DIY movement in the early 80s. Armed with hundreds of dollars, they entered the studio with their group, Fetchin Bones, to begin recording their first album, Cabin Flounder, which found its way to Danny Beard of DB Records in Atlanta. On the strength of this record and their searing live show, Capitol Records signed Fetchin Bones, enjoying a successful run of three albums for that Hollywood hit factory over the next few years. But Fetchin Bones proved to be an enigma. They didn’t fit neatly into any category. Bored by the mainstream, Hope & Aaron always sought out the nooks and crannies of pop music, then jammed a crowbar in there to see what they could find. When the band broke up for all the usual reasons, the adventurous couple formed Sugarsmack, an industrial dance outfit with high energy and powerful musicianship that featured more of Hope’s elegant, whimsical, evocative lyrics. With a kinship closer to Nine Inch Nails than the jangle-pop origins of Fetchin Bones, like a roman candle, Sugarsmack was destined for a colorful, fiery burnout. The day-to-day life of a rock band is a hard life and the couple decided it was time to get out of the van and see how regular people lived. End results are seldom what one expects. Music continued to beckon and not content to pack it all away, Hope ...
