Widescreen; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re; Blue Ray HD-DVD MEMENTO, the second feature by writer-director Christopher Nolan (FOLLOWING), is an intricately constructed film noir that masterfully inverts time to comment on the foggy relationship between memory and truth. MEMENTO tells the story of Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), a former insurance investigator who witnesses a brutal attack on his wife. Knocked unconscious, Leonard wakes up with a rare brain condition--he no longer possesses short-term memory. He can remember his name and all the details of his past, but he can no longer make new memories. Armed with a careful system of remembering details (he compulsively snaps Polaroids and scribbles notes, then tattoos the important facts directly onto his body), the distraught Leonard goes on a manhunt to avenge his wife's death. To illustrate the unique and frightening state of the protagonist's mind (he cannot remember what happened even seconds before), Nolan takes a brilliantly successful risk in telling the story backwards. The film begins with Leonard killing the man he's looking for. From there MEMENTO unravels a compellingly disconcerting trail back to the start. As the layers of the story are peeled back scene by scene, Leonard's involvement with two enigmatic "friends"--who both claim to be helping him--complicates the mystery.
Based on a short story by the director's brother, Jonathan Nolan, MEMENTO is an incredibly original film that is so wonderfully puzzling and eerily ambiguous that it will surely warrant repeated viewings. It forces the viewer to experience short term memory loss like the protagonist and therein, creates a truly unique filmgoing experience. Great acting by Guy Pierce and Carrie-Ann Moss make this one of the best movies last year. Awesome. Submitted by a reviewer (Bronx, NY) Was This Review Helpful? This movie is so original and a classic The only thing I can say about the plot of this movie is that the story
plays backwards. You will see one scene
and then a few minutes you will see what lead up to the scene. What a clever movie. Guy Pearce rocks--he is so cool. This had to be a hard movie to
do but he pulls it off great. I t is like so original. A brillant piece a
work with a fantastic story and cast. Submitted by a movie and music lover (Hoover, Alabama) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

a twist at every turn for those of you who like to be challenged , this is one of the best movies ever. Memento will have you feeling like the main character, set on finding out the truth, but operating in a fog of memory. Guy Pearce is brilant as Leonard Shelby, the protagonist who because of head injuries while trying to stop the rape and murder of his wife, can't create new memories. his unusal ways of recording the facts he uncovers is both sad and eerie. with the help of so called friends, he goes about trying to solve the case that the cops have written off. this premise alone would have made an intresting movie itself, but director Chris Nolan tells the story from the the end to the begining. this makes you feel like you are put into Leonard's shoes, suffering the same affliction. the packaging of the movie is one of the most creative i've ever seen, making the case look like a file from a mental hospital. the only down side of this is the use of cardboard, which might not hold up so well over time and repeated viewings. the two disc set is set up the standard way, with the movie and some extras on disc one, and more indepth extras on disc two. to access the menus, you must answer some questions doctors use for psychiatric evaluation. this can be confusing ad frustraiting, but use a little common sense and you will do fine. the biggest extra you will find is on disc two, a chronological version of the movie. this alone is worth the price of this movie, but don't watch this version until you have seen the movie at least two times. just remember to solve the picture puzzle of a lady changing a flat tire lke the movie runs, from end to begining.all in all i give this version of Memento four and three quarter stars, the only reason i wont give it five is the pacaging and the sometimes confusing menus access, but the movie itself merits five stars. over time it will stand up to such classics as The Usual Suspects, Seven, and Pulp Fiction. Great movie, but confusing DVD I love this movie! It's one of the best movies I've seen in years. I'm glad I waited awhile to buy it, because I hate buying a DVD and then having to buy a special edition with cooler features (like what happened with the Dogma DVD) But before you buy this hear what I have to say! IF YOU HATE PUZZLES DON'T BUY THIS DVD!!!!!! Both discs are set up like a psychological test! The first DVD is easy to figure out! However the 2nd disc is flat out CONFUSING!!!! Depending on how you answer the questions is how you get to your features!!! If you answer one question wrong you can get sent right back to the main menu. But to make matters WORSE NONE OF THE QUESTIONS HAVE RIGHT OR WRONG ANSWERS!!!!! I'd advise everyone that wants this DVD to wait until someone on an
Easter Eggs site figures out the answers because you'll enjoy it alot more I promise. However the movie kicks ass so if you enjoy watching Indy films at their best then this is one for you!!!!! The movie in my opinion is 5 stars, but due to the difficulty of the DVD I'm giving it a 3. Thank you for your time!!!!

$30.49 CASONOVA is loosely based on the memoirs of the writer, adventurer, and infamous lover Giacomo Casanova--themselves notably unreliable--and fortunately has no pretensions to historical realism. Instead, it's a witty, lighthearted romantic comedy, which uses its 18th century setting and renowned hero as a jumping-off point for sexy banter and ruminations on love, lust, and freedom. $13.05 A classic Western regarded by many as the best of the genre, John Ford's THE SEARCHERS has been acknowledged by several directors who came into their own in the 1970s, including Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Paul Schrader, and George Lucas, as a powerful influence on their work. The film stars John Wayne as Ethan Edwards, a case-hardened Civil War veteran returning to his brother Aaron's (Walter Coy) Texas home in 1868. When Rev. Samuel Johnson Clayton (Ward Bond) arrives to raise a posse to run down the Comanche who have stolen the cattle of neighbor Lars Jorgenson (John Qualen), Ethan is among those who join him. They return to find the Edwards family slaughtered and the two girls, Lucy (Pippa Scott) and Debbie (Natalie Wood), missing. The posse continues to search for the girls but turns back as winter settles in. However, Ethan and his reluctantly accepted companion, Martin Pawley (Jeffrey Hunter), the girls' part-Cherokee ...

| | All The King's Men Blu-ray (2006) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Memento film
$30.39 Sean Penn gives an electrifying performance as rising politician Willie Stark in ALL THE KING'S MEN, the second film based on Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. (In 1949, the original ALL THE KING'S MEN, directed by Robert Rossen, was a huge hit, earning Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor [Broderick Crawford], and Best Supporting Actress [Merceded McCambridge].) But whereas the novel and first film set the story of pride, ambition, jealousy, and dirty politics in pre-World War II Louisiana, writer-director Steven Zaillian (SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER) moves the action to the 1950s, a much different time in American history, with the Great Depression and the war over and McCarthyism just around the corner. Stark starts out as a man of the people, proud to be a hick, wanting to make a difference to the struggling families in his community. But the smell of power leads to back-room corruption, lies, and betrayal. Stark surrounds himself with smart, well-connected people, including journalist (and narrator) Jack Burden (Jude Law), right-hand man Tiny Duffy (James Gandolfini), and doctor Adam Stanton (Mark Ruffalo), using them as both willing ...
