Pretty but poor, Andie's (Molly Ringwald) a good student who develops a crush on Blane (Andrew McCarthy), the sensitive, well-born preppie. Going against her fretting father (Harry Dean Stanton), peer pressure and social expectations, she decides to date him. But their big plans for the senior prom ultimately fall apart when Blane heeds his friend Steff's (James Spader) warning to "quit slumming." Will Blane find the courage to claim what he really wants and give up the so-called friends he doesn't need?

 A multi-generational appeal
The John Hughes Brat Pack movies were a staple of the 80's. I thought they were wonderful then, and now my 17-year old daughter is hooked. The plot of Pretty in Pink is nearly cliche (crossing of social barriers, unrequited love, rejection/acceptance, loss and discovery), yet is so beautifully delivered in this film it becomes one to watch again and again.

A funny love story of a good movie!
If your into teen movies of the eighties you will find it a good film. At least I liked it for sure. It was sometimes funny and mostly a serious story of a movie too. The actors like Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy, James Spader and Jon Cryer were all great in here.

Andie is your average teen who isn't really rich but not poor. what is cool about her character is she makes her own clothes and doesn't fall for Blaie the first time. But both teens need to realize going to prom is a chance for them to fall in love with each other.

Molly Ringwald's character almost relfects the real life all american teen love crush relationship and the movie reveals that typical societal problem between the rich and the poor that hinders love and friendship. What was not clear to me was this: Did Blane not really want to take her to the prom? Was he really avoiding her at that time (that scene when she confronted him in the hallway by the lockers) He seemed to have the guilty face of avoiding her but denying that he saw her that day...
All in all - wonderful emotional movie. Well written

Boston is one of the best-selling albums of all time, and deservedly so. Because of the rise of disco and punk, FM rock radio seemed all but dead until the rise of acts like Boston, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen. Nearly every song on Boston's debut album could still be heard on classic rock radio decades later due to the strong vocals of Brad Delp and unique guitar sound of Tom Scholz. Tom Scholz, who wrote most of the songs, was a studio wizard and used self-designed equipment such as 12-track recording devices to come up with an anthemic "arena rock" sound before the term was even coined.
