| | Landon Pigg LP CD Landon Pigg Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
On his 2006 debut album for RCA, singer-songwriter Landon Pigg offers up a surprisingly mature set of alternative-pop tunes that often sound like Rufus Wainwright backed by Coldplay. It is to his credit that the young Nashville-born performer counts revered 1970s songsmith Harry Nilsson as a key influence, a claim backed by the emotive "Sailed On" and the breezy "Tin Man," both of which showcase Pigg's impressive vocal range. For fans of left-of-center pop and rock, this record is likely to be a pleasant discovery.

LP Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Buy LP~you won't be disapointed! This CD is the best I've heard in a long time. Landon Pigg's romantic enthusiasm will capture your attention while feeding your soul. He is an extremely talented singer and songwriter who stands head and shoulders above any of the semi-indie, mainstream, pop singers on the scene right now. He looks like a British rocker, with his boyish good looks, but is American in the most authentic way possible. "Can't Let Go" is melodic and catchy, a sweet, emotional portrait of a tormented young lover...I haven't been able to get it out of my head for days! I highly recommend this CD for it's unique combination of dreamy, introspective songs, like "Great Companion" and gritty, powerful, high-energy songs like "Last Stop". This is an impressive debut album and I expect more great things to come from this sensitive and smart singer. Landon Pigg has created a CD that's beautiful and honest, what more can I say? Buy it, you won't be disapointed. Five stars. Rock on Landon, rock on! Submitted by krkabica (Vacaville, California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great! I first heard Landon Pigg on Late With Jay Leno. I like singers who can sing live, and to my surprise, this guy can sing. I like the tracks Can't Let Go, and Sailed On! It's pretty easy going CD! Submitted by Pedro (Dallas, TX, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$6.05 How does an artist follow up not only the best album of their career but probably the best country album of the year? That was Patty Loveless' dilemma after her 1993 gold album, ONLY WHAT I FEEL. Fortunately, Loveless sets all minds to rest with the spectacular WHEN FALLEN ANGELS FLY.

$13.25 Is this a valuable release for Dusty Springfield completists? Certainly; none of the 18 songs are too easy to find elsewhere, with seven of them never having appeared in the U.S. before this CD, and eight of them previously unreleased anywhere. Do they comprise a musically strong and pleasurable release? Overall, no, even by the standards of rare Springfield material. In a reversal of the way such anthologies usually work, ...
| | Valley Of The Giants Westworld CD (2004) (Import) Canada
LP album
$14.19 The indie rock supergroup Valley of the Giants aren't big pretenders with an ambitious scope of creating an artistically original album of rock & roll. If anything, they're slightly reserved about their various backgrounds and talents; however, an impressionable blend of many musical worlds and reflections of particular moods and spells of an isolated countryside carry the weight that is the Valley of the Giants' self-titled debut. It's a cinematic soundscape captured on a four-track recorder, an instrumental trail to unguarded moments of the most northern regions of America while also a trek to the more bleak ridges of the bottom of the earth. From the creaking flow of lap steel guitars and violins of "Claudia & Klaus" and "Westworld," Valley of the Giants' ...

$7.69 Hope of the States lost one of their best friends during the recording of The Lost Riots. They could have given it all up to mourn the loss of founding guitarist James Lawrence, but their dedication to one another and to their music could not be disregarded. The majestic soundscape that is The Lost Riots honors the band's personal bond and cherishes the memory of their late friend, but that's merely a stepping stone. Sam Herlihy's bittersweet vocal delivery during the piano-driven ballads "Don't Go to Pieces" and "Sadness on My Back" matches the heartache previously displayed ...
