The Gatecrasher Club returns with the third installment in a series compilations that chart the club's musical history. With fresh emphasis on their present and future, "Gatecrasher Forever" encapsulates the sound and resonance of the infamous lion's roar in 2006. The set features upfront and underground tracks from the essential world of Trance and also incorporates the element of House music, signalling a progression in Gatecrasher's musical direction. The first two discs create a euphoric journey through some of Trance's finest modern anthemic beats, from ultimate Gatecrasher favourites from Chicane, Paul van Dyk, Mauro Piccotto, System F, Underworld, Tiesto, Above & Beyond and more. The set also includes remixes of the ultimate Gatecrasher classics brought up to date for 2006. CD3 looks to the future with a tough electro trip through Dance culture in the late 90's to early nils with tracks from Fatboy Slim, Oakenfold, The Egg, Kosheen and more. | | Lee Burridge Global Underground: Nubreed CDs (2001)
My Playlist: By Joey Starr songs
$24.05 This entry into the ongoing Global Underground series represents perhaps the most eclectic mix to date, as Lee Burridge manages to teeter somewhere between straight-ahead mid-tempo house rhythms and dynamic breaks. And he doesn't just follow house records with breaks, but rather spins tracks that feature both styles of beats interwoven within the rhythms. So, given this untraditional approach, Burridge presents a set that's, at the least, always interesting. You're never quite sure where he's headed -- sometimes moving away from breaks towards a more grounded, 4/4 rhythm, other times doing quite the opposite. Furthermore, the ubiquitous progressive sound that has so long been a staple of the Global Underground series is, for the most part, absent here. Yet as unique as ...
| | Kings Of Convenience Quiet Is The New Loud CD (2001)
My Playlist: By Joey Starr album
$11.25 Emerging in 2001 on a small wave of hype touting Norway as a new musical hotbed, QUIET IS THE NEW LOUD was startling in its earnestness, even to ears that had been softened by the likes of Belle & Sebastian. Where that Scottish band tempers its twee-ness with clever, winking wordplay, Erlend Oye and Eirik Glambek Boe are more akin to a latter-day Simon & Garfunkel or a couple of Nick Drakes who are lucky to have found each other.
Disarmingly sensitive, poetic tracks such as "Parallel Lines" ("What's the immaterial substance that envelops two/That one perceives as hunger and the other ...
