$9.49 Madonna's HARD CANDY continued the electronica-oriented, disco-centric vibe she began with CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR, and "Give It 2 Me," the album's second single, is a case in point. Co-written and co-produced by industry heavyweight Pharrell Williams, "Give It 2 Me" pulses, surges, and sashays with all the pop smarts that her fans expect from Madonna.
The GIVE IT 2 ME maxi-single contains 8 remixes of the song from artists as diverse as Paul Oakenfold, ...
| | Bruce Gilbert Oblivio Agitatum CD (2009)
Warmth songs
$15.15 Bruce Gilbert's first full-length release since ORDIER (2004) finds the ex-Wire guitarist in characteristically uncompromising form. Originally a visual artist, Gilbert has always been interested in the possibilities offered by sounds as sculptural raw materials, treating his recordings and performances as experimental spaces in which to explore how far those materials can be pushed. OBLIVIO AGITATUM continues that process. Gilbert is at his most intensely minimal on the title track, crafting austere rhythmic patterns from drill-like electronic detritus. Elsewhere, though, he adopts an expansive, more organic approach across dark, droning soundscapes that balance repetition and incremental change--channeling the kind of cosmic proto-industrialism developed by German innovators Cluster. With its stark sweep and dread-inducing rumble (interspersed with fleeting static and ghostly chatter), the 26-minute "Zeros" conjures images of the last spaceship blasting off from post-apocalyptic Earth and drifting out into the farthest reaches of the universe. A similarly sparse, marginally more melodic gravitas envelops "Isopyre," which suggests a brief snapshot of some cataclysmic natural event. While Gilbert's work usually generates a distinctive ambience, it's not ambient music. (Whether it's even music is another question entirely, but those who might ask that wouldn't come within ten miles of his recordings.) In Eno's view, ambient music hinges on an essential ambivalence, in that listeners should find it "as ignorable as it is ...

| | Clifton Yeates Dont Cry CD (2003)
Warmth CD music
$17.09 Clifton Yeates: Although this profile only depicts the musical and cultural aspects of the artist's life, it's aim is to let you get to know him a little better. When not in the studio, Clifton tries his best to help the youths and spends most of his spare time maintaining computers for primary schools and other community projects geared at helping youth education. A very conscious and calm, but an outstanding person, Clifton tries to reach the hearts of many with a unique style, smooth vocals and lyrics, all in a class of its own. He was born in March of 1966 and lived his early years in Hermitage, a small village in the northern part of Tobago. Growing up in very peaceful and tranquil surroundings, he has placed the thoughts and troubles facing people in the world today in song. Struggling to make it as a recording artist for a number of years has led him to form his own record label - GENIUS RECORDS. The first album released in 1999 "CONSCIOUS Four Artists Compilation". Has certainly take its place in the industry, making him one of Tobago's most outstanding artist, sharing the stage with some of the best including Jamaica's Glen Washington Anthony B and Eric Donaldson to name a few. Clifton has highlighted many situations in his songs. Although most of the situations do not apply to his life, it depicts the trends of modern life. The song "Can't Afford" which tells of love and of affordability. This youth thought love was enough in a relationship but finds out otherwise, when he losses the one he loves because he could not give her the fancy living she desired, so the lyrics say: "Gal (girl) inah mi life you were a treasure, loving you so long not even rulers couldn't measure, but so many things that I could never offer, like going out at nights and buy you fancy dinner. Also the heartache faced when someone walks out of a relationship for something not even understood, is described in the song "Why? "The more I've tried to get over you the more the hurt becomes, and the more I've tried to get use to living without you I can't believe that you are gone and" asking the question "Why did you leave and let me go?, don't you know how much I love you?" The song "Running" could not emphasize enough the struggle of the poor man being oppressed. Clifton says that this comes from deep within as he looks at the demolition of the poor man's shelter and way of living while others prosper. The song also states what could or would happen to the oppressors and those in authority who feels that money can buy everything. On the more conscious side, the song tells the poor and oppressed to look towards a brighter day to come. Calling "Oh Jah this is a poor man's calling rich man's warning", going on to say "Rich man weh (what) you a go do with you money and you gold when none of it can't help you," stating in the chorus. "You go be running but can't run from Jah, Jah. The song "Ready" appeals to people to flee from evil and try to live the righteous ways. Clifton Yeates says peace to everyone as he smiles. He has since then released several singles and the album Dont Cry is certinly a work of art, and a ...

| | Byrds Live at the Fillmore: February 1969 CD (2000) (Import)
Warmth songs
$10.05 Originally recorded as a soundcheck for the headline attraction, a reunion of Butterfield Blues Band/Electric Flag Alumni, LIVE AT THE FILLMORE captures the Byrds less than a week after the release of DR. BYRDS AND MR. HYDE. By this time, Roger McGuinn was the sole remaining founding member and his band had moved from the Dylan-inspired folk-rock of its origins to more of a country-flavored sound due in part to the seeds planted by one-time member Gram Parsons.
Parsons' replacement, Clarence White, carried on and expanded upon the band's country legacy. White gained his fingerpicking expertise as one-half of the seminal bluegrass act the Kentucky Colonels and had been an occasional Byrds sideman since 1967's YOUNGER THAN YESTERDAY. The Byrds didn't quite fit in with their self-indulgent jam-band peers--the band was known for playing concise and crystalline recreations of its material while in concert. Standouts captured here include the self-penned instrumental "Nashville West"; a thumbed-nose retort to Nashville, "Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man"; and authentically twangy covers of songs from artists including Merle Haggard ("Sing Me Back Home") and ...
