(2 Customer Reviews)
Journey was pushing closer and closer to major success by 1979, and its final release of the decade, EVOLUTION, helped a great deal. While many other rock bands of the era were flirting with disco, Journey stood its ground and recorded a fine collection of rockers and ballads. "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'," remains one of Journey's all-time great tracks, with "Just the Same" and "City of Angels" certainly not far behind.
Recorded at Cherokee Studios, Los Angeles, California.

Evolution album
$6.75 Digitally remastered by Bob Ludwig & Brian Lee (Gateway Mastering Studios, Portland, Maine).
This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
Widely considered to be Journey's finest moment, 1981's ESCAPE virtually defined "arena rock," and became so popular that it even spawned its own Atari video game. Featuring the urgent anthem "Don't Stop Believin'" and the soaring ballad "Open Arms," the album showcases Neal Schon's dynamic guitar riffs, Jonathan Cain's bold keyboard lines, and, most importantly, singer Steve Perry's powerhouse vocals. Although the ...

1978's INFINITY was easily one of the most important albums in Journey's career up until that point. While it did spawn one sizeable hit, "Wheel in the Sky," more importantly INFINITY was singer Steve Perry's debut with the band. While touches of Journey's early fusion/progressive leanings can still be detected, a new ...
| | Journey Departure CD (1980)
Evolution music CDs
$12.79 With its first '80s release, DEPARTURE, Journey had made the transition from its early prog-rock direction to the streamlined radio machine that would rule the first half of the decade. DEPARTURE would also prove to be original keyboardist Gregg Rolie's last studio album with the band--he was replaced by Jon Cain for next ...

| | Journey Raised On Radio CD (1986) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Digipak
Evolution album
$7.59 After a three-year layoff, Journey returned with 1986's RAISED ON RADIO. Longtime drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory had left the band prior to the album's recording, leaving singer Steve Perry, guitarist Neal Schon, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain to fend for themselves.
While the album wasn't as big a blockbuster as the band's previous few releases (ESCAPE, FRONTIERS, etc.), it did spawn such hit singles as "Girl Can't Help It" and "Be Good to Yourself." After a successful supporting tour wrapped up later in the year, Journey would go on hiatus ...
| | Journey Frontiers CD (1983) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Digipak
Evolution CD music
$8.29 It seemed like nothing could stop Journey when it kept its string of multi-million selling blockbuster albums intact with the release of 1983's FRONTIERS. The band also successfully made the transition to the MTV era with this release, benefiting from the new station's constant airing of its (inadvertently) hilarious video for "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)."
Also included here are two more hit ballads that showcase vocalist Steve Perry's immense talents: "Faithfully" and "Send Her My Love," as well as ...

| | Very Best Of Cat Stevens CD (2000) Argentina
Evolution album
$13.95 This is a 24-track anthology of favorites by British folk-pop singer Cat Stevens.
Before converting to Islam in 1978, the British-born Cat Stevens blazed the trail for the sensitive singer-songwriter movement that got its start in the earlier part of the decade. Containing both early and late representations of Stevens' impressive canon, VERY BEST OF surpasses the wildly popular GREATEST HITS collection that preceded it.
Starting with the more lushly orchestrated material of the late 60s ("Matthew & Son," "The First Cut Is The Deepest" which Rod Stewart turned into a mid-70s hit), this collection captures Stevens' transformation into an introspective artisan who succeeded with a unique brand of folk-pop. Moving from a rumored ode to actress Patti D'Arbanville ("Lady D'Arbanville" featuring flutist Peter Gabriel), Stevens quickly moved ...
