Upon learning that the Cincinnati, OH quartet Suffocate Faster is straight-edge and list such respected outfits as Hatebreed and Earth Crisis as prime influences, it's not too hard to connect the dots regarding what their music would sound like. And upon hearing their sophomore effort, 2006's Don't Kill the Messenger, these assumptions prove completely correct. Aggressive metal with hardcore leanings is a fitting description of the album's 11 ditties, as ra-ta-tat-tat drumming and riffing and scream-until-you're-blue-in-the-face vocals are the main ingredients. The intensity and rage don't dip for a second, as evidenced by such hardcore-worthy song titles as "Taste My Steel," "A War Within," and "Fight the Real Enemy." ~ Greg Prato

$16.09 When SONIC BOOM was released, it had been over a decade since the last Kiss studio album, so expectations were understandably high. In addition, the intervening period had seen the band fire two of its founding members for the second time, only to replace them with sidemen wearing Ace Frehley and Peter Criss's iconic makeup. Luckily, the new additions, unlike some of Kiss's "un-masked years" members, have a good feel for classic Kiss. That fact, matched with Paul Stanley's assumption of production duties, makes SONIC ...

Don't Kill The Messenger album
$17.79 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht ...

Don't Kill The Messenger album
$17.69 Long dronning pieces with incredible deep mood, perfect for listening in a candle-flooded ambiente, in a church, or in your inner ‘psychic dome’Good for relaxion or meditationMathias Grassow was born in Wiesbaden Germany in 1963. From the start, music has always been a deep passion. He played drums and guitar in the 70's and moved on to keyboards in the early 80's. Mathias became increasingly fascinated with the flexibility and possibility inherent in keyboards and electronics and created experimental electronic music between traditional German and 'New Age' styles. Since the late 80's he has specialized in synthesizer drones and myriad forms of overtone music and explored their effect on the human psyche (similar to the old Indian Nada yoga) by using his voice, tambouras, zithers, flutes, guitars, singing bowls, and some home-built instruments. About twenty years ago, he met a friend who gave him some books by Alan Watts, the American philosopher, Harvard professor, Zen Buddhist, and psychologist. During this period Mathias resolved that his life and music would have one aim: to learn more about true spirit in life and music and reflect back his experiences to the public. Over the years his path led him from Buddhism to Sufism and the mystical ...
