Two CD 27 track collection featuring Ian Hunter and the rest of the Motts recorded live at the peak of their career (plus three rare demos). Mott The Hoople's nasty fusion of heavy rock, glam and Dylan-esque sneering hipster cynicism provided the groundwork for many British Punk bands, most notably The Clash. They subverted Rock 'N' Roll conventions with a tough, muscular sound that kept the group firmly in hard rock territory, even when flirting with feminine imagery and Glammy make-up. All the classics are here including 'All The Young Dudes', 'All The Way From Memphis', 'Original Mixed Up Kid', 'Roll Away The Stone/Sweet Jane', 'Born Late '58' and more. Music Club. 2006

Essential Young Dudes: Live & More album
$18.05 Growing up among Afro-Americans in Berkeley, CA, Greek-American Johnny Otis (born John Veliotes) always identified strongly with people of color. Before he had attained the age of 20 he was gigging with black jazz bands throughout the Southwest, and eventually organized an ensemble deliberately patterned after Count Basie's orchestra. This highly charged album of historical musical artifacts documents the very beginning of Johnny Otis' recording career. With one apparently unobtainable exception, the Classics Blues ...

| | B B King Mr. Blues/Confessin' The Blues CD (2005) (Import) Remastered; United Kingdom
Essential Young Dudes: Live & More CD music
$18.79 This CD contains B.B. King's first ABC-Paramount studio efforts -- Mr. Blues (1962) and Confessin' the Blues (1965), respectively. While there are inevitable similarities between the projects, offering them back-to-back allows listeners an acute sense of King's rapid maturation and development during what was by all accounts the nexus of the guitarist/vocalist's career. The dozen-song Mr. Blues was a haphazard start for King with the contents taken from three different recording sessions in a 13-month period (March 1, 1962 through April 11, 1963). Based on the results, the artist was being presented as a blues shouter, supported by an antiquated big band and/or orchestra. Arguably the best of the lot comes from ...
| | Wes Montgomery Day In The Life CD (1967)
Essential Young Dudes: Live & More music CDs
$8.49 As is usual on Wes Montgomery's later recordings, underneath all the orchestrated strings, horns, and windwinds, there's a killer rhythm section hard at work, and A DAY IN THE LIFE is no exception, with Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Grady Tate holding everything together. It's hard not to measure everything Montgomery did after 1963 against the four years of cooking, small-group albums he made for Riverside starting in 1959; the later, more arranged material is certainly less pure in terms of jazz content.
But the Verve and ...
| | Chris Botti Slowing Down The World CD (1999)
Essential Young Dudes: Live & More songs
$12.05 Those who heard Chris Botti playing live in the 1990s realized just how much he had going for him as a trumpeter -- not only an appealing sound (sort of a combination of Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Art Farmer, and Chuck Mangione) and sizable chops, but also a lot of warmth and charisma. Botti's studio recordings, meanwhile, were decent, even though they fell ...
