Mad Ludwig is the brainchild of Peter Kurie, who has recorded under the Ludwig name for the last three years. Originally made up of a rotating motley crew of musicians from in and around the cornfields and strip malls of Central Pennsylvania, Kurie and his band mates currently make their home in Philadelphia, PA.The Mad Ludwig sound can be described as melodic, piano-driven, art-indie rock with an emphasis on lyrics that reflect the cynicism and hope of growing up in modern day America. Influences range from Tom Waits to Belle and Sebastian, from the French cabaret composer Jacques Brel to the Harvard cowboy Graham Parsons. Many of the predominant styles of American music--from jazz to country, from rock to post-rock--are represented in Ludwig’s songs.Mad Ludwig’s current stage line-up consists of Kurie on keyboards and vocals, Kurtis Shakemore on bass, Bradlee Cumberbatch on drums, Tom Copson on guitar. Guest musicians appear frequently on stage and on recordings, including guitarists, female vocalists, laptop artists and noise-makers of all sorts. Things Look Kind Of Strange From Here album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to ...

Things Look Kind Of Strange From Here songs
$8.99 Vox Sonus is a new contemporary music group based out of Los Angeles, Ca. The debut EP- cd of Vox Sonus, "The Human Feel", is a collection of deep thoughts and raw emotion. The writers weave in the rich timbre of the cello, with driving piano lines and heavy guitar, which culminate into the orchestrated, melodic compositions, kissed with the sultry sweetness and strength of the vocals. From the gentle moods of “The Jesus Song"(In His Light), to the energetic “Raise Your Hands”, each song chronicles an inspiring and personal story in the life of the two creators. Vox Sonus desire is that the listener not only hear the music, but also feel it in their heart and soul. The group officially formed in December 2004 with Rick Brandt (writer, producer, composer, arranger, lead guitar, cello, bass and backup vocals) and Valeria Macias (lyrics, vocals, keyboard, piano). After writing their first song together (which was originally intended as a Christmas gift for their families), this song "The Jesus Song" (In His Light), became the match that sparked the fire to continue writing and to cultivate the sound of the band. In 2005, a lifelong friend (Brian Cortese, drums, percussion ...

Things Look Kind Of Strange From Here album
$12.65 New review posted for WIDOWS&ORPHANS Everything Is Gold from Uprise Zine:"Taking influences from a variety of music has been an effective strategy for this original band. At The Drive In, Mewithoutyou, Mars Volta, Every Time I Day: all of these bands have some similar elements that can be picked up from listening to Widows & Orphans. The Texasact released their first album under Doll House Records and quickly afterwards inked a deal with Blood & Ink Records who will release their next composition. "Everything Is Gold" makes a statement in the somewhat-stale heavy music Christian market. The full length album kicks off with a great start and carrys the same excitement throughout the whole disc. The songs are very original, some are more catchy than others, but the cd as a whole is fine. The recording quality is pretty decent as well. This is a pretty good debut for Widows & Orphans and should be checked out by anyone who wants something completely new and different with a genre inbetween rock & hardcore." -Dave DarrNew review posted for WIDOWS&ORPHANS Everything Is Gold from Buzzgrinder:"This hardworking band of Texan bearded ones releases a batch of songs that are one-half newly recorded and one-half material from past releases. You might think that this makes for a jumbled listen, but the production values ...
