| | Dermaptera Imbolc CD Dermaptera Discography of CDs
Dermaptera’s third album, recorded in 2004, delves into dense fields of electronic experimentation. This album is the most ambient that the band has yet produced. The stillness and slow movement of many of the pieces brings to mind the long winter rest that eventually changes to the movements of spring.Imbolc is the third album in our four CD celebration of the seasons of the year. February 1st is usually when Imbolc is celebrated, so the album is reminiscent of the turning of the dead of winter into the beginning of spring.Kathy McMenamin and Kevin Hassett are Dermaptera. A husband and wife duo, we have been making music together since the turn of the millennium. Kevin has been playing bass since the early eighties, and has perfected his individual style of playing multiple string chords on the bass. His bass style also usually includes multiple effects processors. Kathy plays the synthesizer, and adds signal processed vocals to some songs. Her background includes a decade of training and performing for voice and piano, but she had been away from making music for several years before Kevin convinced her to start up again. Other instruments that have been known to make surprise appearances on Dermaptera albums include mountain dulcimer, autoharp, hand drums, and an earth plate, so keep your ears open for surprises. You hear a soft voice in your ear just before you fall asleep. You barely hear what it says, but it tells you to buy this album now. $20.19 Like a cool trade wind that breezes in from the South Pacific Hawaiian Islands, AIRTIME recording artist SCOTT KATSURA is soaring high with his newly released ALOHA MILES AWAY CD-album. Overseas, he is frequently regarded as the first international pop star associated with Hawaii since 'Don Ho'. Scott is quickly captivating mainstream audiences worldwide.ALOHA MILES AWAY was born shortly after the events of 9/11 - and in already being a resident of Manhattan for thirteen-years, SCOTT was drastically affected to the first degree. By experiencing a spiritual, mental and artistic revelation, like never before, he was inspired to compose songs through his native Hawaiian eyes; SCOTT took a shot at producing himself for the very first time; SCOTT chose Hawaii as his theme for the project; SCOTT personally hand picked the entire production crew; and then SCOTT changed his professional stage name from Scott Allan (first, middle name) to plainly SCOTT KATSURA (first, last name).By working with people who shared the same passion for the ALOHA MILES AWAY production - Broadway singer David Velarde and jazz pianist Martin Bejerano, KATSURA has succeeded in creating ...

$12.55 Musician Biography -Since beginning on the saxophone and singing in the fourth grade choir at school, James has mastered many instruments including the guitar, synthesizer, and bass. Early forays in music included Christian Pop / Rock, Punk, and Heavy Metal. During this time James developed his unique vocal style which, having been honed to professional quality in the early 90's, became a focal point of the melodic hard rock group, DeFault.James' talent and leadership navigated DeFault through an extensive performance and recording schedule which culminated in generous amounts of radio airplay, both in domestic and international markets, as well as producer and label interest. Despite their success, however, DeFault disbanded after a two years, due to creative differences.Rather than allowing the demise of DeFault to hinder him, James rebounded with The Morning After, an 11 minute, three-song concept EP; it too was met with unanimously good reviews and radio airplay both domesticly and internationally and has propelled him futher forward in what is becoming a successful music career. And now for the most recent news... With the release of The Morning After, James decided to start publishing a music fanzine, KiT 'Zine or Keeping in Touch Magazine, to help promote the talent of the 90's and beyond. With the magazine in place, after six years of publishing, James decided to kick off the millennium by starting a coffeehouse, The Agora Cafe', at Marketplace Community Church, the church he has been attending for the last two years. At around the same time, James has gone into the studio and started to work on a new album titled, Dawn of A New Day.... with the help of some local Christian musicians, as well as the production talents of Michael D'Amore.Update: In the studio (www.waltenstein.com) working on a new compilation CD (music that I've been a part of over the last ten years - more alternative rock, metal, and punk)due out in August and the name of the magazine is ...

| | Hialeah Where You're Standing CD (2006)
Imbolc album
$10.15 Hialeah: “When You’re Standing” (Blackbox Records) Few bands these days can pique my interest; it’s a rare thing for me to be blown away by new music since so much is derivative that one has to judge a lot of this stuff by different, diluted standards other than originality. OK, Hialeah are not the only ones to sound like this. What they did, though, is to whip the senses into a frenzy of cool receptivity. Hialeah fits into this interesting box – the better file, I guess you could call it. I was pleased by the deconstructed power pop, the cerebral, emotive musings. The music really gets a kick from the thundering bass and the pulsing, throbbing beats of the drums; they both anchor the noodling, jangle of the guitar and the understated plaintive angst of the vocals. Hailing from the San Diego area, down in the mellow sunshine of So-Cal, Hialeah has a similar vibe to other area bands ...
